Whatever your thoughts are on Spike Lee, the Knicks (19-42) are the NBA's most valuable team (worth about four billion), and Lee's one of their most high-profile supporters. He "spends roughly $300K a year on Knicks tickets and has given them almost $10 million over 30 years", so I wonder why he was treated like that.

The only thing I read earlier was it was about the entrance he was using. With as many games as he has been to how has it not been a problem until now? Unless he just started to use a new entrance yesterday I don't see how it could happen.

From what I heard he was entering through a player/employee entrance. He had been told to go through the vip entrance before but ignored it. The Knick organization is a cluster foxtrot from top to bottom

I have read (and heard) quite a lot about this (but my opinion has no more worth than anyone else's.)

James Dolan is unpopular with their fans (which all execs are who run a lousy team). I think they should have seated Spike. Then Dolan should have reached out to him the next day -- if this is a big deal with Dolan.

(Personally I do not see a problem with letting Spike enter from the employees' entrance.)

I wish I was successful enough to have a gigantic ego.

Knicks gonna miss playoffs for 7th consecutive season. He no longer wastes his $ on a sorry product. Hell, can you blame him?

If the Knicks were good enough to make the playoffs I guaran-damn-tee you that Spike would still be going to games and would be willfully complying with whatever in order to do so.

Having said that...the Knicks organization is a train wreck and this situation is no different. Let the dude come in the entrance he has always come in. If it’s a new security issue then handle it with discretion. Pretty simple.

Spike Lee = overrated.

However, Knicks are the poster child for mismanagement over multiple decades. Can't entice a FA to even have a conversation, much less consider them as a landing spot. Just horrible, horrible management and the results on the floor reflect it. Why they couldn't reach out to their most recognizable fan and let him know of a change in procedure and make some allowances is just another example of how screwed up that franchise is and has been. Now, I don't think SL 'deserves' any special treatment as I believe he's a huge racist and overrated by Hollywood because they're scared of the blowback should someone say, 'Hey, his movies just aren't that good'. But, that's just me. Regardless, he's been front and center at MSG for years now and to publicly piss him off is just self-defeating.

Maybe I misread something, but i thought they asked him numerous times to use a different entrance and he ignored them. The thing I read made it seem like he feels entitled to use whatever entrance he wants.

Think they're doing him a favor, perhaps he should dress up like Whoopie and claim he/She's the Coach.

And who knew that my boy, a 70 year old fat Jew who plays piano is the best thing going at MSG these days.

Spike hasn’t made a decent movie in 2 decades... maybe he can’t afford court side anymore.

Really? Do you not realize that you answered your own question? After Spike Lee's 300 thousand dollars are taxed this year what exactly is his worth to a 4 billion dollar institution, one who very likely has plenty of other suitors for Mr. Lee's privileged chair? And have you never heard of the expression, 'no one man is as a great as the institution'?

The Knicks should tell Lee to go eff himself if he can't understand that the employee entrance is off limits, or that he is already being made extra special by having a VIP-celeb entrance to keep him away from them awful common folk . . . the real plantation class that Charles Oakley seem to be so bent out of shape over but doesn't know how to identify unless it's got several million of it's own growing out of its delta.

This is correct. He's a crybaby . Maybe he doesn't understand that the other front row ticket owners pay the same amount and they don't get to use the employee entrance either.
