Spooky story of the week...

I've stated on the paddock before about having unexplainable stuff occur to me, and I've decided to share some of them. Feel free to add your own. Some are spookier than others. For example...

My Dad died of cancer about 10 years ago. He was gone for about a workweek when Mom gave me his cellphone, some of his watches, knives, little things like that. I took them and put them on my dresser at home. Another week passes, and my cellphone rings. I check the caller ID, and I comes up Dads cellphone which is in the other room. I was living in a townhouse, by myself, and 2 cats, who were jostling each other to get to see which one got to sit on my lap.

I looked at my phone, more torn than unsettled because I have had weird phone calls before (different story). I finally set my phone down, and let it go to voice mail. I then mass erased my voice mails without listening to them. My girlfriend berated me for not answering, or listening, to which i replied "I had enough weird **** happen to me. I'm not answering a phone call from my dead Dad!"

All fine and good, and a lot would say I'm crazy, but... a week later I was visiting my Mom, and she had a odd look on her face. "What's the matter?" "Have you been using your Dads phone?" "No. It's at home on my dresser. Why?" "I wasn't going to say anything, but a few days ago, when I was out, the phone said I missed a call. The ID said it was your father's cellphone." No message left, though.

True story. I'd swear on a stack of bibles. Anyone else get weird phonecalls?

I'm just an average man, with an average life.
I work from nine to five; hey hell, I pay the price.
All I want is to be left alone in my average home;
But why do I always feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone, and
I always feel like somebody's watching me.
And I have no privacy.
Woh, I always feel like somebody's watching me.
Tell me is it just a dream?
When I come home at night.
I bolt the door real tight.
People call me on the phone I'm trying to avoid.
Well, can the people on T.V. see me.
Or am I just paranoid?

As fantastic as it seems, the mystery of phone calls from the dead is not an uncommon one. Those who have researched the phenomenon have determined that these calls usually occur within the first 24 hours of the death, but there have been cases in which the calls were received as long as two years after. The call is usually filled with heavy static and the phantom caller's voice is faint, as if far away. Far away, indeed.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you.

My next door neighbor told me she had received an email from her husband who had died about a year earlier. The message simply said that he was OK.

For those interested in looking further into this topic you can buy a SBox Ghost Box Scanner with Spirit Box and EVP Recorder on Amazon for $89.95 and listen to and record the voices of dead people. If that's too pricey for you there are aps available for your smart phone starting at around 3 bucks
