A few quick observations:

* The offensive line is still a question mark

* Jawon Pass has a long way to go

* We have no running game to brag about

* Turnovers still an issue

I have very high expectations for our guys. Our fan base also frustrates the hell out of me, great weather, and a very mediocre crowd. Needs to be held on a Friday night (7:30 pm kick off) not the same weekend of the Derby Classic. Maybe that would help.

So basically I should expect another big september (clemson, unc, etc) but then get beat at fsu and thus forward a big let down?

So what is the bad news?

Again, I have very high expectations. I just saw a lot of holes that we need to plug. Especially the damn turnovers. And Bonnafon as our feature back? That scares me, I really question his toughness.

Bonnafan pulled a hamstring scoring a TD early in the second half and then we had no credible running back on the field. True, RB is not a possession runner, who can run over people. That said we have a lot of injured RB's at this time.
It appeared, with the exception of the defensive line, the Red Team was the first team, The White team appeared to have the starting defensive line and some LB's.
Pass does need a many more reps, but he appeared he could contribute next year IF we had running down hill backs and the line to go with it. I did focus on the line and it appeared to have some new guys who showed promise.
Charles Stansbury appears to have slimmed down and was very mobile at the TE position. At this point he appears to be the starter (although he played for the Whites) backed up by Micky Crum who appears to be a blocking TE who is thrown short passes.

I was sitting on the side of the field where they were working on Reggie after the injury. They were not working on his hamstring. They worked on his left ankle. Never touched his leg.

The spring football game is the dry hump of sports. It leaves a football fan very unfulfilled. If it were on a Friday night, I would be more likely to go. But on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, I have a dozen things higher on the list than watching a glorified intrasquad scrimmage. That is one of the great things about living in Louisville, we have a lot going on.

I get that, I'm busy as hell too. But, we had 50 recruits at the game and last year's Heisman trophy winner returning under center. It's important to put butts in the seats. I cannot believe we cannot do better than today!

Cards will be fine at RB.

Smith and Bonnafon will/should be healthy by spring.
Dae will probably RS due to ACL tear.
Colin will play now.

Of course the Cards best RB is Lamar.
The conundrum is , he needs to pass more , run less.

I see your point but it's something that I've stopped letting frustrate me. Louisville football fans and Louisville sports fans in general are and always have been "big event" people. That's not likely to change anytime soon and right or wrong, a lot of the faithful still have a bad taste in their mouths from last year's nightmarish finish.

The spring game is kind of boring even for diehard football fans. In 2013, 5 days removed from winning a National Championship in basketball, on a perfect Saturday, with a serious Heisman hopeful in Bridgewater and $1 beers the stadium was hardly crowded. The party deck was. It was mostly a celebration of the Title.

I trust in Mike Summers and BP getting even more out of Lamar this year and if that happens we are going to be really good.

I posted a thread about this same issue. In no way, shape, or form, is this to blame on the fan base. Whoever the moron is who decided the spring game should be moved from Friday night to Saturday afternoon is at fault. A Saturday in the spring with youth sports, beautiful weather, the day before Easter, all going on makes for a poor crowd. The fan base suffers through enough noon kicks during the regular season as is. Having it on a Saturday afternoon is just plain stupid. Hell even those idiots at the school up the road have figured out to have it on a Friday night and they didn't even have a spring game a few years back . Move it back to Friday. Period.

That's fine. Then no one should complain about the fans not showing up. I am forever sick of noon football kickoffs. Hell with the schedule the way it is this year, I wouldnt be surprised if all of the home games were at noon.
Deciscion on time is as all ythings football with the head ball coach.

I don't think CBP gives a rat about it, unlike ccs.

Bobby knows what fans we are.

And he shows nothing of value.

I believe he thinks it's a wasted day.

I have very high expectations for our guys.

We are all well aware of your frustrations and goofy expectations with all things UofL sports related.

I credit you for consistency. You are awful on both main message boards.

He said "our" hahahahaha

I agree. Spring games are like going out in public and kissing babies. Gotta do it, don't wanna do it.

I read someone else describe the Spring Game as the "dry-hump." Sounds great until you do it, and it's just unsatisfying.

Rollem's right. Petrino probably doesn't much care about this game, so why should our more senstive fans? If you wanna go--like me--you go and have a good time. And you stop using it as a measuring stick for something larger, unless your coach does...

There is never going to be the level of enthusiasm for college football here that there is down south in football country.

It's just not going to happen. I applaud everybody that wants it to happen here, but it's just dreaming.

This was the first spring game I've been to in 3 years and that's because these games do not tell you much about what to expect in September. First, you'd have to be living in a cave not to know who our starting QB was going to be. Second, our backup QB's name is Pass and he's got a lot to learn. Kinda like kid named Jackson during his freshman season. These games ARE NOT DESIGNED to inform you as to what our true offense will be and that includes OLine blocking schemes. Why do you think there are only 3 open practices with the black stuff blocking out the practice fields. I just go and enjoy a little football in the spring and because I'm a die hard UofL fan. All in all, a beautiful day and if it had been cold and wet I would have been at home enjoying myself there. And, for what it's worth, I was told by friend that is a cayut fan that was at their game on Friday night, that their estimate of 37,000 was approximately off by close to 20,000.

If Reggie is our main running back we will lose 4-5 games.he is a great athlete but no running back . They need to put trevon Samuel and Craig yeast as possible backs

WOW. All of these predictions of failure based on a spring game that is never, I repeat never, designed to show more than very little. Plus Bonnafon was injured in the 2nd quarter and didn't get to show much due to that slight injury. Oh well, another day in paradise with UofL expert fans that want to be more critical than positive, I have a suggestion: let us wait until after an actual game before passing judgement.
