Sorry wrong board. Mods please move it to the Paddock.

Just got home from seeing it and enjoyed it. I think they are doing a solid job of rebooting/reimagining the series and definitely worth a watch if you are a sci-fi fan like I am. I especially like that they added a scene in honor of Anton Yelchin dying. I'm amazed they were able to add it within a month of release, but with everything being digital now, it makes it much easier to edit then the days of using film.

There is a scene where Kirk is drinking some kind of illegal liquor on his birthday by himself, which happens to be the day his Dad died also. Bones shows up and comments on Kirk going blind drinking that stuff and has him try something he took out of Chekov's locker (Scotch I believe). They end up pouring three classes and tap both of their glasses to the third one, which is supposed to be for their fallen comrades I think, before tapping them together. It was probably for Leonard Nimoy as well.

I didn't catch all of that as it happened, but thought of it at the end of the movie. They put a dedication to the two at the end as well. So if you go see it pay close attention to that scene and there might be more going on there than I noticed.

I thought it was pretty good. It's not something that will be super memorable, but it was a fun two hours.

Are you sure they shot footage after Yelchin's death? I haven't seen that anywhere. I just took at as a toast to his dad (hint with the news of Hemsworth returning).

I figured with the 3rd glass and mentioning he found the scotch in Chekov's locker that it had something to do with him. Maybe just a coincidence. I could be overanalyzing things though. I wish I could see that scene again.

I always hated Star Trek when i was a kid and hated the fact my dad loved that ish. The last few years i have been going back and giving that series a fair shot and am starting to slowly turn into a fan.

The guy playing Shatner looks like a 45 year old 20 year old. Dude is aging like Dorian Gray's self portrait.

Willy, what's your take on alien women?

I really enjoyed it. The 3d was probably the best I've seen including The Force Awakens. The script was a bit of a throwback to the original series which I appreciated. Not a phenomenal flick, but I'd say it was very good.

There was definitely some weird juju in the theater during Chekov scenes.

*Spoiler*

In that scene it is not Scotch. They say they thought it would be scotch but it wasn't. And they tap the third class in honor of Kirk's dad, hence the whole conversation talking about it being the day his dad died and Kirk's birthday. The only thing they added after Yelchin's death was the "For Anton Yelchin" in the credits.

I thought they said that he thought it would be vodka since Chekov's Russian or maybe that is what I thought they should have said.

Just saw it and it is great. Much more like the tv show then the action oriented movies. Loved the tribute to Nimoy at the beginning and the tribute to the original cast at the end.

Anyone who thought that movie was any good likely dresses like this once a year.

Irdris Elba was wasted as an actor. Special effects only good thing like a Micheal Bay film.
