Now that we have a Star Wars break for a little while, I’ve been watching some Star Trek, namely Strange New Worlds. I’ve seen all the movies and quite a few of the original episodes from the 60s.

I like that each episode of the new series stands alone like the originals. Which of the multiple series are more like that?

If you haven’t watched the new one, here’s a good reason to.

The Next Generation (my favorite television show ever) features many running subplots but most episodes are entirely self-contained. Same with Voyager. Deep Space 9 is mostly episodic, but it's noticeably more serialized than the original show and The Next Generation.

I've watched every episode of the original series, The Next Generation, and Deep Space 9 several times (and I've seen all of the movies, most several times). I checked out of Voyager after the first few seasons and haven't seen any of the television shows since then except for a few episodes of Discovery. I might check out Strange New Worlds when it's over.

I like The Orville quite a bit, too.

What are your favorite episodes of the original series?

I’m working on the second season now of the OG series. Did not know Khan was in season 1. Glad I’m going back and watching these for the first time. Love em!

I always liked Star Trek slightly more than Star Wars. Enjoyed them both, but Star Trek had the feel of a possible realistic future instead of random aliens in a galaxy far far away.

I never really got into the original Star Trek series that much. It was just before my time. That crew in the movies was great though. That's what got me interested in the franchise. Next Generation is when they really hooked me though.

I might be in the minority but I also really enjoyed Voyager. Had a lot of Borg episodes during it. I think the Borg are pretty high up on the list for movie/tv villains. Pretty terrifying enemy to deal with.

I also liked Enterprise with the Xindi storyline. Kind of went downhill the season after that concluded. Probably knew it was being canceled and mailed it in early.

I haven't had a chance to catch back up on the shows that were only on streaming with CBS All Access/Paramount Plus. Might have to see if they have a free trial for it now.

Long time Trekkie here. I would love to watch the new stuff, but I'm not ready to pay for it yet.
