Drew and Hurley sit at the top of everyone’s list. If not, then AD’s barking up wrong tree.i domt get the infatuation with mccollum, id rather have devries, drew, and tang over him
yes but bruce pearl dominated in the sec, mcollum just got called up
They also barely beat a couple of teams.
That same mediocre TCU team dropped Florida yesterday, so,,,,,This is true. Beat Wake Forest by 1 in overtime. Beat a mediocre TCU team by 4.
For Michigan the issue is their guards. Caduea has a reputation as being good but he is not great.Michigan is a team to keep an eye on for many reasons. I disagree with people downplaying their dominance. Yes, they struggled and had to win some close games early including an OT game. They beat Gonzaga by 40 and the night before that they also had a 30 point win as well versus Auburn. They are by far the best team in the country for now.
What’s interesting is how their roster is built. They only have one returning player in their rotation and everyone else is portal mercenaries. I’m curious to see how it all plays out for Michigan. Do they start to struggle at some point? If they win a title with this team, it will change everything we know about CBB in this era and teams will start building even harder from the portal.
TCU just beat Florida so they aren't trash.Eh they looked great in the last three games against good competition and so that's definitely worth turning some heads.
They also only beat TCU by 4 points and Wake took them to OT.
I don't think they are unbeatable lol.
Yeah, Kentucky needs to just give up and not bother. Pray that Pope finally makes it work with $20+ million while every other team manages to make it work for half that. You have to get those guys before they dominate at a high major now. We are not pulling oats away from Bama. It’s too late. Just like we weren’t pulling Hurley from Uconn. Probably won’t get Lloyd from Zona either or Golden from Florida.
McCollum has the pedigree of a future coaching star. Hell…it might be too late for him. Iowa is home to him.

We just can’t get good coaches. Just don’t be shocked when someone like Oats ends up at Kansas or UNC a few years from now, but that’s different for some reason.
UNC has pretty much always hired “UNC men” since Dean Smith. I can’t remember when they didn’t hire a former player. I could see that changing since there really isn’t an obvious UNC coach.Look at who UNC has now? why couldn’t they get those guys instead of settling for Hubert Davis? They had to take one of their own with zero coaching exoerience. Duke took thst gamble too but it’s looking like theirs paid off. What program is pulling coaches with the resume of an Oats, Golden or Hurley? we just tried it with Hurley and Scott Drew. Threw something like 10-12 million a year at hurley and he said no thanks.
It will be interesting to see what Kansas tries to do because it sure looks like Self may be headed on soon.
You’re talking to a wall on this topic. I’ve said the same thing and you can’t reason with people on this. There’s no more powerful phrase to some than “WE ARE KENTUCKY”. People disregard that Oats, Hurley and Wright took their own names out of consideration publicly and clearly without even needing to be offered. Not every coach wants to coach here and the irrationality plays a part in it —-literally. I asked ChatGPT what are the reasons Kentucky has trouble landing preferred coaching candidates in today’s climate and the number one answer that it postulated was the fans. We are more than an acquired taste.Look at who UNC has now? why couldn’t they get those guys instead of settling for Hubert Davis? They had to take one of their own with zero coaching exoerience. Hell, I’d be fine with giving Frank Vogel a try, if we’re only going after Kentucky guys.
We’ve been hearing this crap about Kentucky being unable to get a good coach since the 80s before Pitino was hired. Heard it when BCG was hired too. You’re talking to a wall on this topic. Let’s just see how the current one does, be supportive. If it doesn’t work out, there will always be options. We’ve been hearing this crap about Kentucky being unable to get a good coach since the 80s before Pitino was hired. Heard it when BCG was hired too.
Personally, I’d take a shot at Vogel if Pope can’t make it work.
He’s an elite defensive basketball coach and has NBA connections that would likely help with recruiting. Dude won a title with Lebron, that has to get you into most recruits’ and transfers’ doors.
Problem is whether he’d even want to coach in college and would probably be flirting with NBA coaching jobs every year.
