Hey all,

Been a rough year for the wife and I and we want to do a little excursion. I've heard that State College has a nice light display and I obviously love the town.

Just want to make sure at least some restaurants and what not will be open. Any locals have any opinions on of it would be a nice new years? We've booked a few nights at the Hyatt downtown, but have some space to cancel if it everything will be closed (we won't mind quiet)

Thanks

I cant speak for State College, but NYE seems to be a big night for dinner out. We have gone to Altoona the last couple years and the places were packed. I dont know about NYD. I would pick a few that you may want to eat at and call to make sure.

There’s quite a bit to do on the 31st and a good number of places have special hours just for it. However, with the 1st being a holiday, most places will be closed. If there are places you are interested in, I would contact them ahead of time, and reservations for dinner on the 31st are most likely a good idea. Definitely plan ahead for the 1st as your options will be limited. It’s possible that your hotel might have done some of the info gathering ahead of time.
