Unless I've made an error (very possible, I admit), SJ2's record of 7 wins in his first 10 games (.700 win%, 4-3 SEC) as a starting QB at UK is the best since Bill Ransdell in 1984 (also 7-3, but only 2-3 SEC in those 10) Before that you have to go back to Babe Parilli starting 8-2 in 1949. Not Bob Hardy, Derrick Ramsey, Tim Couch, Jared Lorenzen, Andre Woodson, or any other QB at UK has had a better start in that period.

To be accurate, Johnson is a 4th year junior who started 14 collegiate games before coming to UK but 4 were at Grambling and 10 at COD. Experience counts for something, but big step up in competition.

I think Johnson only gets credit for 6 wins officially. Barker started the New Mexico game. Therefore, I believe he gets credit for the win. While that doesn't change the point you're making I think it should be noted. Johnson has done a terrific job replacing Barker. Hopefully he can improve this offseason.

This is not baseball, so he's not a relief pitcher... He come into that game and threw an interception... This was his game to win, and he won it... He is 7-3 on the season.... You can't give that game to Barker, or the cat...

I simply cannot believe that Johnson was able to complete the number&quality passes and the timely runs that he had in the UL Game! My congrats to him & in particular, Coach Gran for his brilliant "game plan"!!!

We all know Johnson was the guy who played the majority of the game and was responsible for the win. What I'm saying is that in the official record books I think Barker gets credit for the win because he started the game. I wasn't saying Barker was the reason we won, but Stephen Johnson's record as a starter is 6-3. It doesn't change how good he was for us as I mentioned. I just thought it should be noted if we're looking at other QBs records. Unofficially he's 7-3, but if we're comparing other QBs official records we should do so for Johnson as well.

Technically he's 5-3 because wright started the AP game

i love how johnson played against louisville but he did not have complete game until Sat. he had some nice moments but overall had way to many turnover and did not throw the ball all the well for most of year .I look forward to see how much improvement he has between now and the bowl game

Pretty good for a kid a lot of us....me included....we're saying should be benched and pull the red shirt off Hoak because of Johnson's fumbles.

The whole team responds to him better than any quarterback I can recall since the Brooks days. Young man has something that energizes the rest of the team.

Good points about Barker and Wright. I give Johnson credit for his important contributions in both of those games; but he wasn't the starter.

Johnson has the one unteachable intangible : quiet, confident leadership. He is not the cheer leader type of QB. Those types have a lot of surface leadership that hides a lot of inner uncertainty. The team picks up on those inner vibes and doesn't play with confidence. On the other hand there is that rare leader who doesn't say a lot, but lives with a deep inner confidence that exudes "We will succeed; we will win; we will conquer." And he really truly believes it, and his team mates KNOW he really believes it, and it causes the whole team to rise to a higher level of play. Johnson is that kind of leader. ..and don't look now, but I think a leader like that is emerging for us on the defense as well. Every great team, not only has great coaching, but great on-the-field leaders as well. Hang on. ..it's going to be a fun ride.

A simply great review of UK QB's! I've had the wonderful experience of witnessing the exploits of these UK QB's, however, I'm lacking in my capacity to remember them in the manner portrayed!

And I thought they recruited Johnson to bring Tate Leavitt his water bottle.

Love that a kid got his shot to be great

Sorry it came at barkers expense, but if he has the character of Johnson he will wait for his turn and have similar success
