Stoops Not Overwhelmed By Neyland Atmosphere

Now I will say this...the crowd at Neyland is loud if we have something to be loud about...but it can get complacent as well...I've seen it. As much as I love General Robert Reese Neyland Stadium it isn't as formidable as say Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge or Jordan Hare at Auburn or The Swamp at Florida or Bryant Denny at Alabama. Those places stay very oppressive against opponents...you can cut it with a knife...but our place can rock especially when we get reved up.

Yeah, I'm sure Bob quit being 'awestruck' about large, unfriendly stadiums a long time ago.
Just more hyperbole that precedes all big games such as this one.

Who cares what Bob says about big crowds? It's a no-win question either way to ask a coach how big a factor he thinks a hostile crowd will be.

• If he says 'It's a factor', then the homer fans gripe about being a defeatist and making excuses.
• If he says 'It's no factor', then the opponent's fans take it as disrespect and they use it for bulletin board material.

The bottom line is that good teams find a way to win.

I'm sure that Neyland will be rocking Saturday, but I can't wait to tell my Vol buddy that I have finally found a reasonable UT fan. Good post and enjoy the game. I think its going to be a good one. OU by 5. No injuries on either side.

Well you aren't so bad yourself Okie. Good guy for sure. I started working a little part time job at the Manheim car auction place in Mt. Juliet, TN yesterday. Guy in my crew had his "OU" hat on...he is going to the game as well and is all revved up about it. He will be going with his son and 2 of his son's friends...the friends are all Vol fans as is his son. Really nice guy. They had asked him to work this Saturday and he told him he would just quit rather than miss the game.

Guy in my crew had his "OU" hat on...he is going to the game as well and is all revved up about it. He will be going with his son and 2 of his son's friends...the friends are all Vol fans as is his son. Really nice guy. Yeah, in the seventies I quit a crappy part time job for the same reason.
Initially I got the OK for the day off, bought two tickets for me and the soon to be ex girlfriend at the time. Friday, the *** wipe boss called me at my full time job, said he 'had to have me, indispensable, all that crap'.

Yeah, in the seventies I quit a crappy part time job for the same reason.
Initially I got the OK for the day off, bought two tickets for me and the soon to be ex girlfriend at the time. Friday, the *** wipe boss called me at my full time job, said he 'had to have me, indispensable, all that crap'

Yeah I know the feeling. Quit one in the late 70's when I was in college at the University of Memphis. The butt wipe owner was always rah rahing about "making it happen" for his customers. I had tickets for the Alabama game in 78 I think. He comes in right before quitting time and I'm already packed for the 6 hour trip to Knoxville and tells me, "Well we gotta make it happen for the customers tomorrow and you need to be here to help me make it happen"...I just never came back...didn't even bother to go back and pick up my last measly check either. Thing is the guy knew I already had tics because I was telling him for 2 weeks. Now if he only thought about "making it happen" for his employees with a decent salary...well wouldn't have mattered...I would have quit anyway.
