... I'm also really interested in who will replace that replacement coach in 3-4 years.
This is the point very few tend to grasp. The next hire is always better. The next hire will always get it done. The next hire will finally be the one to solve an entire existence of failure.
Except he never is, he won't and he couldn't be that good as we'd never be able to hire/keep him here.
I've supported Stoops and will continue to do so, but these first two games have forced me to begin to accept the reality that UK will likely have better luck hanging on to a poor coach/good recruiter for many, many years as opposed to trying to catch lightening in a bottle over and over. No proven, name coach is coming here to see his career fall to nothing just for a few more dollars than any other school would pay and even if we do land a sho-nuff up-and-coming football genius in a coordinator hire, we won't be able to hang on to him for more than a couple years if he proves to actually be worth his salt here.
As much as it sucks, I'm ready more today than I was in Joker's last year to accept a fate of UKFB mediocrity. We have, arguably, more talent and depth than we've ever had in program history, yet we've turned in 2 consecutive games that could legitimately rival for top-15 worst losses in program history. Ride the low tide and hope for that one good year in 6 or 8, man. It's our fate and it's a far more peaceful place here.
