Penn State football: James Franklin says Joe Lorig is 'being pursued,' addresses fake punt call in first half
Penn State coach James Franklin said after Saturday's loss to Arkansas that special teams coordinator Joe Lorig is "being pursued."
No he much prefers not fair catching and not getting to the 25 yard line. What, doesn't Lorig like teaching the art of the fair catch?
āIt was a 54-yard field goal, we didnāt feel good about kicking it,ā Franklin said. āWe had a fake in the game plan. I felt like in that situation, weād either get a pass interference call. Or, I was hoping that theyād catch the interception, which would have been as good as a punt.ā![]()

So even their trick plays are designed to fail? Was there even an intended receiver?
Heās not wrong. If it works (reception) great. If it doesnāt, but PI, great. If they intercept it, itās like a punt. When it came to outcomes, it was 2 goods, 1 even, and 1 bad (dropped INT). Odds are in your favor.

Except he didn't even mention a reception as an option, and viewing the play it was difficult to determine if there even was one. Perhaps if Stout didn't have the leg, but pretty sure I'd memory serves me, Stout has made field goals from that range.Heās not wrong. If it works (reception) great. If it doesnāt, but PI, great. It's flattering that you're so obsessed. I actually liked that post but your mommy apparently didn't tell you that before you tagged me. Maybe you should just tell her to post directly. You and BW Lion should get a room.@PSUJam still think he is not stupid
Odds of success increase with a real offense out there. That's why he's wrong.
Punter, not QB. But he does have a point. If the defense wasnāt well coached, I could totally see a throw like that being intercepted in the end zone with the ball being placed on the 20. Not exactly a confidence builder, but it would help with field position. At least initially. Is Franklin the first coach in history to publicly admit he hoped his QB threw an interception? Bet OSU and Bama can't claim that one.

Well if the game was an audition/interview for Lorig to Oregon he bombed.![]()
