Does anyone have any experience with this StreamSmart TV?

My barber showed it to me in his shop one day, but the box is quite expensive. Is there anything comparable?

The first 2 years I was an ATTUverse champ now I am a chump. The first two years everything was fine. My bundle was 135.00 without fail every month. Now it has just gone over 200.00 starting my 4th year. I won't be paying that much longer.

I m thinking, nothing but wireless. LG 50" TV is about 5-6 years old but is internet ready. Going to drop landline and go with Consumer Cellular. I know I need a digital receiver or antenna for the over the air channels and box for streaming channels.

Better options or ideas please. Thanks in advance.

I don't know where you live, but we have Time Warner internet for $70/month for 200mbps, SlingTV with the sports package for $25/month, Netflix for $15/month, Amazon Prime (not for TV but we do watch movies and shows there), and an antenna. Grand total for TV & Internet is $110/month. I don't count Prime as a TV expense because we would have it anyway.

Looks like just another media box loaded with the KODI app that you can get much cheaper off Amazon. Just look up streaming boxes with AmLogic S905 chipset.

I know you can load KODI up on the Amazon box even.
KODI is free but the channels that stream copyrighted material would be considered pirating. :gun::cop:

I cut Dish and got a ROKU to stream the PlayStation Vue service, IMO it's a better deal than the SlingTV.

I just got a Roku Streaming Stick and it works great. It costs $50 and has an upgraded processor over the previous version and comes with a remote. The quad core processor runs it well. Works much better than my old Chromecast.

I paired it with the Sling TV basic package with sports pack for $25 and Netflix for $12. I believe my Internet is around $50 for 50 Mbps. I had 200 Mbps but it really was overkill so I lowered it down. You really only need like 5 Mbps for HD streaming per device. Online gaming is less than that. Unless you are streaming 4K (25 Mbps), you really don't need that much.

So I have about $90 a month invested in it. The only disappointing thing is no DVR so you have to watch things live unless you can watch shows like a day later using the networks Roku channels to watch it. I think Hulu might have the network shows on it the next day as well. The way things are going, there won't be a need for cable companies in the future. Once they can incorporate a DVR in the streaming devices it will be set.

I'm using Kodi add-ons I installed on a $40 Amazon FireStick and love it. I have Sunday Ticket and RedZone + most cable channels for $70 a month. I just had to watch a couple tutorial vids. Some Kodi apps offer a pay DVR service if that's something you'd be interested in. (I have no idea how that would work and am skeptical.)

There are occasional drawbacks such as dead links, choppy/buffering streams, less than HD quality pictures, not being totally legal, etc. But those drawbacks are worth not giving Comcast/Xfinity another GD dime.

I also subscribe to Netflix, have a digital antenna for local channels and can stream my computer or phone to the TV if need be.
