Anyone notice how last year, Sumlin was on hot seat and now he is the media darling and they are having a great year ?

I have been critical of Stoops but I think that is informative to look at our position and wonder if we have enough patience. Where would Texas A&M be if they got rid of Sumlin last year and made a rash decision.

He has done a great job after the disappointing season last year (wish 8-5 was disappointing for us) and the issues with 2 quarterbacks transferring out in the off-season. He is definitely a better and more experienced coach than Stoops, but he does have the advantage of coaching in Texas.

Are you seriously compairing the level of Sumlins success to Stoops?

I would be up for Stoops signing a lifetime contract if he had done as well as Sumlin.

As it stands, Sumlins a&m record is 42-17

Stoops is 16-27.

Tad bit of a difference.

True that but Sumlin took over better talent than Stoops. Still it's an apple/oranges comparision.

I'm pretty sure the main point is that we need to have patience.

Stoops is 16-27 but he is 4-1 in his last 5.

In Sumlins case yes, they should have patience.

In ours? to hell with patience. Saying we need to have patience in a coaches 4th year is ridiculous when's he's fallen flat as much as Stoops has.

Sumlin has given them heismans and 8 win seasons.

Stoops has done nothing as a coach to warrant "patience"

Doesn't matter, the OP was not a credible post.

This is like saying... UK kept the faith with Coach Cal after that NIT year...

You really have to question someone when they do not understand the thought process of earned credibility.

We have seen this mentioned with Mullen, Holtz, and now Sumlin in the last week.

Would bet that someone says it about UM with OSU losing yesterday.

You don't think Stoops has been earning credibility last 5 games?

Compared to past UK coaches? I believe our recruiting successes under Stoops alone warrants patience. I think we are finally beginning to see the fruits of that recruiting.

4-1 in our last 5 games, with an unreal shot to win our next two in the SEC (which would put us at 5-2 with a game against UT which could potentially be for the SEC East championship).

I understand where you are coming from.

For me though in a way Stoops recruiting has been what has frustrated me the most. He's had the most talent and and probly the best coaching staff ever at UK. Yet his results and decision making have fielded very very little results.

His 4-1 record over the last 5.....i can't say is very a encouraging...yet.

You do have to factor in that the SEC has been WAY WAY down compaired to usual this season...

On paper it looks good I'll admit that. I'm just not sure the reality is as promising considering the level of competition.

The UT and Louisville games will be very telling imo

I agree with in game coaching and that it had been very poor for 3 years and 2 games. I was even "done" with Stoops after UF game - but I'm encouraged by what I've seen lately, due to major changes in the coaching the last 5 games.

As far as your comment about the competition. We lost to Vandy and MSST just last year.

I also love how when UK starts beating the teams that we as fans have been begging for them to beat on a regular basis for years, that we start talking about how down to competition is as a way to discredit what UK has done in the SEC so far this year. When UK wins, it has to be b/c the SEC is down - no other explanation for it.

Hell, Vandy is 4-4 and only needs two more games to go to a bowl. Miss St is much better than their 2-5 record suggests.

Not when posed in this fashion by the OP

Especially not on the level of Sumlin or the others.

Those 4 wins:

2-5 MSU
4-4 Vandy
3-4 USCjr
2-5 NMSU

Are you aware of the fact that in 4 years CMS has only beaten 2 teams with a winning regular season record?

Here you go:

Alabama State and a 6-5 EKU team in OT at home.

Does this resemble earned credibility to you? Especially when compared to Sumlin?

We are improving and CMS gets all the credit but my goodness, have a little pride.

There are no ifs and or buts about it, the entire SEC is waay down and has been for the past couple of years - worse in history since the divisions started.

We cant help who is on our schedule. And you are correct we were getting beaten by these down teams now we are winning.

We are getting better and that is a good thing - I thought we looked better than MSU, USCjr and Vandy.
