After watching a full day of Football games yesterday it became very CLEAR why UK has struggled this year. Let me start out by saying Stephen Johnson has done about as well as he can do being put in the situation of running an SEC Offense. This is not a knock against him, but we do not have a quarterback that can make plays that can win games on his own like I have seen other teams do today. We have a player, and the Coaches know this, that can manage a game, and hopefully make no mistakes. This is why we stall when we get in the RED ZONE. I am surprised the WILDCAT has been as effective as it has. Georgia and Tennessee loaded 8 people in the box knowing our QB wasn't that effective passer. Plus they knew, and this may be a bigger problem, that the Coaches do not trust Johnson down at the Goal line.
The second problem we have are Conservative Coaches. This is what it is Good or Bad. I saw a Wake Forrest coach go for it on 4th and 9 and didn't get it. Changed the whole completion of the game. So kicking a field goal instead of going for the TD on second and goal may be right or may be wrong. But my gut instinct tells me players play like the coach coaches.
Lastly one of my BIGGEST QUESTION for our Coaches was why did you Put Benny Snell back to receive the kickoff after you had just lost maybe your most explosive player Badet the kickoff before? You have King, Timmons JoJo and Harmon. Why take the risk??
I end with saying for not having a quartertback we have done as about as good as one can expect. Play the younger kids this week. Let's go get BOWL Eligible!!!

Offense was not the problem yesterday. Our defense has horrible LB play(without Jones) and 0 pass rush and we can't tackle. Dobbs killing our defense in every way was the reason we lost.

I harped on this last week so I'll repeat it. UK's major problems are two fold: On D they have no way of putting pressure on the QB, a consistent pass rush just isn't there. There's not enough negative plays generated by the D.

On O they make too many mistakes. Fumbles/dropped passes at the most inopportune times has been a bane for this team all year.

Both areas take more recruiting plus better discipline and focus. Hopefully it comes but I'm leery it will.

Unsure about any of this. On the one hand, you want coaches to be willing to take chances. Then on the other you ask why Snell, the best offensive player we have, is receiving kickoffs (fearing injury).
Be risky when it fits, be conservative when it fits. How do you know when to be conservative/risky.

Southern Miss and Tennessee. We scored a ton of points with two different QBs, but gave up almost 50 and lost both games. Wonder what the bigger issue is - QB or defense? I will hang up and listen.

Never figured that one out either,Boom would have been a better choice if you were trying to break one,but putting either one back there is something I wouldn't do to in the first place. They are way too valuable to the offense to risk in that fashion.

In my best Nick Saban voice "Young coach, you are way too smart to put your top running back in to return kick offs, when he could be injured and be out a week or the rest of the season tops"

Stoops "you're probably right "

Saban "Yeah probably am right"

Tells you about this program.

The fans can figure it out but the coaches can't.

Sideline is still a dumpster fire. Two delay of game penalty's
& coach's always seemed to be trying to figure out what to do.

Stoops needs to let Gran call the game & stay the hell out of
his way. He needs to stay with the defense as he has more
than enough problems in that department & isn't making much
progress in improving it.
