I rarely start threads, but I have been perusing the webs looking for good recipes for Super Sunday and I thought I would start this thread for members to compile their go to dishes and recipes if willing. I like to do as much as I can on my egg, so mine is obviously ABTs.

Edit for the recipe:

Atomic Buffalo Turd Jalapeno Poppers (aka - A.B.T.)

Print
Prep time
20 mins
Cook time
3 hours
Total time
3 hours 20 mins

Author: Steve Cylka
Recipe type: Appetizer
Cuisine: Smoked
Serves: 20 ABTs
Ingredients
  • 10 jalapeno peppers
  • 10 bacon slices, cut in half
  • 10 mini sausages or smokies (or 20 if they are very small)
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup grated monterey jack
  • 1 tsp chipotle or chili powder
  • 2 shallots, minced

Instructions
  1. Slice the jalapenos lengthwise. Using a spoon, remove the seeds and membrane. If using bell peppers, quarter them after they are seeded.
  2. Mix the cream cheese, monterey jack, chipotle powder and minced shallots. Fill the hollowed out portion of the peppers with the cheese mixture.
  3. Place the smokie on top of the cream cheese. Wrap the half slice of bacon around the jalapeno. If the bacon is not staying tightly wrapped, it may be necessary to use a toothpick to hold it in place.
  4. Smoke the ABTs in the smoker, set at 225F, for 2-3 hours, or until the bacon is browned

Notes
To cook on the grill: Cook on a medium heat grill until the jalapeno is tender and the bacon is browned. Keep the lid covered while cooking. To cook in the oven: Bake the ABT's in the oven, set at 425F, for 20-30 minutes or until the bacon is browned.

Those sound great. I've been making a killer pimento cheese recipe lately, and I'm taking that to a party. Usually do wings on the Egg as well, but we aren't hosting this year. Wife makes a mean seven layer dip too.

What do you eat it with?

Never cared too much for a cold Pimento Cheese sandwich, or really the dish at all. B Money changed that with her tailgate version...:fire::fire::fire:

Basically end up treating it like cold queso though, and dipping every cracker, chip, etc I can find into the stuff.

1 package of Jimmy Dean turkey sausage crumbles
1 package of 1/3 fat free cream cheese
1 can of Ro*Tel

Heat up the sausage over a skillet for 5-6 minutes (it's already cooked), dump in your package of cream cheese and can of Ro*Tel.

Mix together

Hanky Panks

A loaf of Pepperidge Farm "Dark Pump" pumpernickel party bread. It comes in a small loaf with thin slices about 2 inch square.
1lb ground beef
1lb roll of spicy hot breakfast sausage
1lb Velveeta cheese

Brown the two meats together until done and crumbly. Drain well. Add the cheese and stir until melted and well blend together. Preheat the oven on broil. Spoon the meat and cheese mixture onto the bread slices and arrange onto a cookie sheet. Heat under the broiler until they start to bubble and turn golden brown on top...about 3 or 4 minutes.

Yum!

Hanky Panks are unreal but I add in chopped onions, garlic powder and worcestershire.

The best easy snack/appetizer to make is beef cocktail wienies, wrapped in bacon, and drenched with brown sugar.

Crockpot living is the best living on Super Bowl Sunday.

Get a three banger crockpot contraption and fill them with Hanky Panky, Rueben Dip, and cocktail weenies. Something for everyone.

That's pretty much it. Whatever is crunchy and nearby is game. Carrots, nut thins, pretzel thins, etc.

Can also eat it with a spoon. Like to also put it in my chili.

I don't really care about this year's game, don't like or dislike either team and don't care who wins as long as it's a good game, so I'll just be staying at home watching this one by myself, maybe with my roomie if he decides to stay at home. I'll just grab whatever I already have in the kitchen and make a sandwich or something.

I've never given a **** about who's actually playing in the super bowl. It's just an excuse to eat good *** food and have a few drinks on a cold miserable Sunday in February. Same way no one is actually thankful for anything on thanksgiving. Good grief. Learn super bowl

My smoked jalapeno poppers

Split but not all the way through jalapenos. Seed and take out the veins if you don't like them really hot.
Stuff with pulled pork and pepper jack cheese,. Wrap each with a half slice of bacon. I put a toothpick through it to hold the bacon on during cooking.
Smoke at 250 for 2 hrs until bacon is crisp. I use a couple of chunks of apple wood with lump charcoal.

Made some mayo yesterday that pissed me off that I hadn't made any before. Used about a cup for making onion dip that pissed me off that I hadn't made some before.

Don't know what I'm making for the bowl just yet, but a couple of things above look good. I picked up 10 huge jalapenos yesterday. I believe I have everything here to make anything.

Or I could have just said bump and been done with it.

Daughter and son-in-law are coming over so I had to think of something else to serve. I've decided to whip up a big pot of gumbo and some corn bread. Now, in the past I've made homemade gumbo. It's pretty good, but DAMN...it takes a couple hours in the kitchen and eleventy brazillion ingredients that I don't normally keep in the cupboards. So I'm sorta cheating on the gumbo. I bought a couple boxes of Zatarain's Gumbo with Rice mix. It's not the best gumbo I've ever eaten. But it is close enough, and it wont take all day to prepare. Just add water, some andouille sausage, shredded chicken, and 30 minutes later we eat!

"1.3 billion chicken wings will be consumed during Super Bowl 50 — an amount so large that one of the recent Powerball winners could only afford to buy 76% of them. "

Stomach bug, try looking up bland Super Bowl foods and no booze. :weary:

-I like B$'s recipe with a little more cayene. I'll eat that on anything.

-I hate the Buffalo turd name. Ugh. I use sweet italian sausage and chorizo mixed with cheddar and cream cheese. Wrap in thick cut bacon.
