What's the status of these 2 recruits re UK heading into NSD? Last I heard Holmes was supposed to visit Missouri this weekend. JR said earlier this week if UK offered he'd commit, don't guess they did. UK really needs at least one more DT, they're tissue paper thin there as is.

Not sure honestly. We May Have A name out there that we don't even know about. Would love to add Marshall though. He'd play somewhere on the field.

We'll find out more on signing day. However, it's possible that an addition/additions will be added after signing day. IDK for sure, but I think that UK may have up to 3 more spots, if they back count 3.

Marshall was supposed to visit South Alabama this weekend. It sounds like the staff was higher on Carter than Holmes after seeing them both in person. I guess it is possible that one or both could still become Cats but I'm starting to doubt it.

Holmes was visiting Mizoo. I would not be surprised to learn he still has a commitable offer from UK.

South Alabama? It sounds like he may have some grade issues if he's considering a school like that with the offers he has. That may explain why UT dumped him so fast.

UT is almost as filthy as UofLoL; they don't care about grades (if they have to, they'll cook the books) and I don't know if this guy has any issues with that, anyway. If he's looking at South Alabama, could be that he just wants to play close to home, or to play at his favored position, ASAP, which might easier to do there.

I don't see where offering Carter & getting his commit impacts what UK is doing towards/with Holmes & Holmes with UK.

Right, Carter and Holmes play different positions and both are positions of need. Needing Holmes shows how much UK really needed Hamilton/Provitt last year and Smith this year. Really puts a kink in matters missing on those guys.

I am aware that Carter and Holmes play different positions but after the visit JRowland seemed to be getting the sense that perhaps UK wasn't necessarily pushing for Holmes just yet. Obviously they decided to go ahead and move on Carter. Again, not saying Holmes won't be a Cat, but it doesn't look like the near certainty that it did before his visit.

Don't know, but if Holmes has a committable offer then UK is pushing as hard for Holmes imo. Regardless, see no reason to link them in a post.

I don't think it's Carter holding off Holmes. There must be a guy committed somewhere we are on

Could be. I recall hearing Holmes would visit UK and Missouri then make a signing day decision. And maybe I misread/misheard it but I thought JR said(I'm too lazy to look it up) that if UK offered he'd commit. Makes one think that if they are slow playing him something else must be in the mix.

i think pringle can play NT and tackle so they got him on campus and got a look at him and like what they see so holmes moves back a bit. meant, middleton, dubose, miggins and the incoming freshmen are a good group.

i do like holmes tape but if they think the freshmen will be better in 2 years than he will then i say try to get provitt back next year with 3 years of eligibility and hopefully we get a good dline class next year to go with him. but we are probably gonna have to take a juco on the dline going forward.

My concern is depth both in '16 and beyond. Cross/Looney aren't ready, gotta have a RS year. Dubose's health is a concern. That leaves Elam, Meant, Pringle and Middleton this year, hard to get thru the SEC with only 4 interior DL. Consider too that Elam, Meant, Pringle and Holmes if he signs graduate after the '17 season.

hmt, agree...JUCOs are going to have to be hit hard.

Miggins can slide inside on pass down and you forgot Hyde. I agree with you though we need one more tackle in this class and probably 3 next year

I think Hyde's time came and went long ago as a DT. Looking at him notice he has very short arms, T-Rex like. That allows a blocker to get into his body and control him. Maybe they could get a series out of him but any thought of his playing meaningful DT minutes are in the past.

This is false, unless he lets it happen. There was a 5'11" guy down I-64 that wasn't as big or as long as Jacob and he was the best DT I ever saw play the game - name was Elvis Dumervil. Within broad limits, championship players have championship hearts.

Dumervil was a defensive tackle? Maybe he was in college, but he sure isn't in the NFL. The main reason he slipped in the draft was because he was considered too small to play defensive end. Obviously, he proved to be a steal, but has mostly been a hybrid OLB and DE and could never have possibly played DT in the league.

Well, I'm no louisville fan, but he played on the D line with his hands in the dirt and he kicked our asses rather soundly and he was no bigger than Jacob and that was my point.

And he was recruited to play LB but turned out to be better than louisville bad on the line, so that's where they put him!
