Yours is the winner.

Though maybe convert it to the K-Y Ki-Wi?

Kentucky Koala Bear #FIRST
Appears from some of these posts that we've already identified the first cultural hurdle he'll encounter when he gets here: lots of geographically challenged Kentuckians who don't quite understand the difference between New Zealand and Australia.

Lot of misinformation here. Koalas were transplanted into New Zealand in the '60s and migrated there in small factions in the '70s as well.

Have no doubt there are some koalas in New Zealand but would be interested to learn how a small, non seafaring marsupial "migrated " across vast swaths of open ocean to reach New Zealand .

I'll hang up and listen.

Unless you're talking about zoos, I'm curious what your "no doubt" is based on? Koalas have as much connection to Kentucky's wild habitat as NZ's--none. They are purely an Australian creature.

And the answer to your migration question is easy--that dude was obviously flinging ********.

Actually, this is a terrible nickname. The kiwi is a flightless bird...
New Zealanders are affectionately called Kiwis.

It's a good thing that this thread was limited to the nickname. I didn't know anything about Wynyard, so I looked at a couple of things on Google. Somebody -- I think maybe an NBA scout -- compared him to Josh Harrellson. I'll just leave it at that. Maybe somebody will start another thread about Wynyard's basketball potential.

We have to remember he is only 16 yrs old right now. Plus how many times do we complain that CAL can never get good bench players that can play. Well this kid wants to go to the NBA but he's willing to wait to get there. Win Win if you ask me, plus he's no threat to other recruits who want to come.

One fact about New Zealand that would make it a pleasant place to live is it is one of the few countries in the world that doesn't have snakes of any kind, except highly venomous Sea Snakes that are related to the Cobra (but not an aggressive creature thank goodness) Also doesn't have venomous spiders or scorpions. The closest thing they have that could be considered a irritating to humans are bee stings and only if a person is allergic to the sting, and they have sand flies that bite and cause itching.

This has absolutely nothing to do with basketball, lol, but since we're getting a New Zealanders (and Wynyard is a member of the Maori people, the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand) it's good to know a few things about his country. One thing, they don't like to be confused with Australians. They like the own identity.
