Tale of 2 6-minute stretches

From the 12:45 mark to 6:16 mark, we go on a 19-2 run, play great D, take advantage of our opportunities on O and get back within 1.

Then, our next 7 possessions:

- Awful chucked 3 by Audige
- Audige gets bailed out with a foul, makes 2
- Young decides it’s a good time to fire up a 3 early in the shot clock
- Buie airball 3
- Simmons layup and-1 (cool play!)
- Audige missed closely contested jumper
- Buie missed layup

And our chances of winning the game basically disappear.

Illinois made 4 FGs in the last 13 minutes, none outside the paint. We couldn’t have been handed a better opportunity to win a game down the stretch but dreadful offense bites us again.

The guy who sounds like Jay Bilas (Hummel?) pointed out several bad shot selections over those final minutes. He probably got tired of repeating himself.

Game was there waiting to be won. Illinois was on the ropes and NU let them off the hook via just piss poor shot selection

The young 3 pointer was the biggest facepalm moment

If we played even decent half court offense we would’ve won. Either way tough game against a really good team on the road. Purdue is not playing great right now and if the student section shows up we might have a chance Wednesday night.
