So, watching this IndyCar race and they were showcasing the Tampa Area. Always heard it's a great place. Anyone have any firsthand opinions about the place. I know bass and saltwater fishermen must love it down there.

Tampa Bay comprises Hillsborough Co Tampa) and Pinellas Co (St Pete/Clearwater). You could maybe include Pasco Co (new port Richey)

If you could manage, I’d take the Pinellas Co side of the bay. Access to beaches, Clearwater Beach. Tampa is about 40 min from the beach. Avoid South St Pete.

In Hillsborough Co, you want to live in either SoHo(South of Howard), Westchase it Carollwood. Avoid E Tampa at all costs. This includes areas around USF known as “Suitcase City”. Busch Gardens May be fun but the whole area around it is sketchy.. Put simply, Anything East of I-275 and West of 56th street, and South of Fletcher and North of Downtown in Tampa is ghettofied.

Seriously, what is it about that?? When I was there, I had family near Spring Hill drive us down to Clearwater.. and it was legitimately 8-12 strip clubs on that ONE road alone!

God bless this country..
It can get pretty gross—especially on Nebraska Ave.

I used to live in the Clearwater area, and am here on vacation now. Love it!

Rule of thumb, live in the same county where you work. You live in Hillsborough—work in Hillsborough. Same with Pinellas Co—otherwise it’s carmageddon

Spent a long weekend in Clearwater. It was fun. but too hot for my liking. It snowed where I live last night. So maybe Florida isn't for me..
Then you want the Left Coast or a high elevation spot for low humidity. Only places like that in East are Western NC & NW SC or maybe Blue Ridge foothills.

I am 6 generations from Clearwater. When I was born we had less than 10,000 people. But a message for today to y'all.

I spent two years living in North Tampa before heading a bit further down the coast. It's a nice city. Very spread out. So, like many have referenced traffic can be a pain. My morning commute to work would take over an hour for an 11 mile trip. But the weather is great, some solid culture and a lot of things to do depending on your hobbies.

Westchase. North for my liking based on where I spent most of my time and where I worked.
Westchase is very nice. Some say it’s a little too cookie cutter, but I’d rather take my chances living there than say..Seminole Heights

It's a beautiful place to live. Just very secluded from areas that a younger person like myself would be interested in. Westchase has an older demographic and is a great section of Tampa for retirees.

Going East from there, I would say Carrollwoos/short of Dale mabry would be the cutoff. I 275 looms in the distance
