Tampa Bay in the bullseye of Hurricane Milton!

Its crazy this storm has exploded into a Cat 5. Sounds like it wont be as strong once it makes landfall due to some windshear off of Florida but still.
Note to anyone wanting to buy property in Florida. Dont buy where I have traveled recently:

Hopefully it will spare the areas already destroyed where people are still missing.
Would rather have it hit the part already destroyed. Seems like that would be better.

Batten down the double wide! Here comes Milton! Seriously, I know a couple of people who live in the Tampa and Orlando areas. I hope and pray that they evacuate and are safe.
The track seems pretty unusual too. Stalled front south of us here in NC and high pressure to the north steering it but even as a weather nerd having a hard time recalling a storm of any real significance originating in that area of the Gulf and going directly east. Lots from the south that swoop in later.

zones A and B mandated to leave. basically any part of Hillsborough Co neighborhood on water, bay canal etc.
Vacationed at Anna Maria Island last year. Great place. Does not hold water well even if it just rains a bit. If this storm hits them directly it will destroy the island.
This will be what I think will make this really bad. We're already pretty. It was raining a ton before Helene so all the retention ponds are pretty full. There's not a lot of room left for more water.
Because it's going to be a deadly storm, I can't put this on social media (because I also like Florida and Floridians).. but man I really want to.
Live in Southern Lee County on the border with Collier County, east of I-75 and not in an evacuation zone. Sheltering in place. Storm surge for those along the coast and rivers here is expected to be bad. Winds this far south of current projected path should be just under Hurricane strength.

We're under a Hurricane Warning too but will stick it out. If it looks like we'll be out of power for several days, we may head to Miami.
Everywhere I read says a direct hit on Tampa but I dont think this thing turns that quickly and hits south of Tampa just north of Ft Myers which is already devasted from the last hurricane. . Either way horrible for everyone involved.
My two cents (educated guess) is Milton will make landfall in the areaof Sarasota County to Manatee County (below Tampa).
These tornados that are currently stirring up all around are more of a concern than at any time during all of the previous hurricanes I've been through starting with Charley in 2004.
We've got a metric **** ton of Tornado Warnings right now, and several confirmed, including one a couple of miles to the west of us.

Was listening to Ryan Hall this afternoon. Couldn't believe how many Tornado Warnings were out at the same time. I hate KY's humidity but a coastal state in our part of the country is the last place I'd live, regardless of beautiful surroundings.
Talked to one of my friends that lives in Tampa. He said he and his family are bunkered in are going to ride it out. He also said this one looks like the worst they’ve dealt with. I think they are stupid but what do I know, I live in WKY.
This afternoon from 2:00 - 6:00 was pretty hairy here with more tornado warnings than you could shake a stick at. Our ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach was covering it live on air with reporters out in the field. One of the meteorologists was from Texas and he said the radar reminded him of an outbreak in Tornado Alley. One of them hit the St Lucie County Sheriff's Department and did considerable damage, while another hit a golfing community not far from us, killing at least 5 people and many more injured. It's pretty calm right now, with only some spectacular lightning from some feeder bands out over the Atlantic. It'll start getting interesting again in the early morning hours as Milton passes a hundred or so miles to the north of us.
@JDHoss Our time range over here for the frantic tornado activity was 11:45 am. to 3:15 pm. 40+ different tornado warnings during that 3 1/2 hour period. Almost surreal, like living within a pinball machine!

Sarasota was in the eye. Hillsborough and Pinellas looking at 16 + inches of rain. Polk? Not sure. Came ashore in Siesta Key
Power here has been off and back on 4 different times now. Hotwire internet and fisionTV went out with the 2nd loss of power and remain out. Still getting Tropcal Stotm gusts and still from the south.
