Those three are studs for sure and each will shine at Duke. But as much attention as they get we can't minimize the impact that 3-4 year guys have on a program. I'm very excited to see Giles, Tatum and Jackson play and I'm eager to see how Javin and Frank develop.

Btw the article stated Jackson is a wing/SG. Not trying to stir the pot, but this is one of many articles discussing this topic.

Like a lost puppy? Nope I just agree with him a lot.. You tend to not agree with anyone on here. I'm sure when you reappear it won't take long to figure you out... Sorry mods for the response

Go Duke! Go Frank!

Don't be sorry , Crank is an idiot. Everybody here knows that. Argumentative, doesn't matter what your point is. If he cries about Frank not being a true PG again i'll probably lose my mind. Now he's actually trashing dukehokie, who is probably the most easy going, pleasurable, knowledgeable poster we've ever had at this board. He needs to be banned, permabanned, ip banned, man card pulled, kicked off the team and forgotten.

Why do some posters just enjoy being unlikable?

It's in some people's nature I guess Show. Oh well. I'll let someone else handle him this time. Like other trolls, hitting the ignore button is sometimes the best course of action.

Anyway back to Giles and the crew. Looks like Harry will be back to full service in November so this team early on will be different from the team we see in March. I cannot wait to see this team grow.

Go Duke! Go Frank!

That would mean increased early minutes for Chase, so we will get to see his off-season progress very quickly.

Chase has a whole summer to get stronger and come of age. He was 17 for a good part of the season last year. I'd say we're in store for a more coordinated Chase Jeter as he showed some nice flashes in terms of scoring touch and ability. If he can slow the game down and secure the ball before moving, that'll go a long way in his development.

While I tend to agree with Crank in that Frank is nowhere near a true PG, I don't think it will affect us too much. If the guy is as good of a scorer as he is projected to be, than the offense will take care of itself. Remember, Jayson Williams never had played PG until he got to Duke, and even while at Duke, he was a "shoot-first" PG. Not comparing Frank to J-Will, but you get the point.

Grayson and Tatum can create their own shot whenever needed, and Luke can too (not to the level of Grayson or Tatum though.) The only player I feel could be hurt by not having a "great passer" will be Matt Jones. However, if we can play inside-out through Harry, Amile, and Bolden, than Matt should see plently of open looks

If a loaded UK team can win the title in 2012 with Marquis Teague as their PG, than a loaded Duke team can win the title with Frank Jackson as their PG.

As always, we care more about defining positions than Coach K. Assuming everyone is playing great D, he'll figure out that winning recipe.

The defense is the biggest question mark in my mind. Multiple players and positions have been championship MVP's, but every championship team has played good D and can get a stop at a crucial point.

Another one of my peeves. Why have multiple usernames on one board? Be yourself, true to your team and honor your image. If you're banned from a board, why try again? Stupid. Thanks Mods, the only thing that surprised me was he lasted this long.

Without wishing the Summer away, I am really excited about next season.

A little OT and in no way am I defending anyone's stance or being argumentative. But why is it that most people are arguing that Frank Jackson will be our PG instead of Allen? I honestly think that Allen will be our PG for 30+ mpg.

Either way, I think Duke is going to be great and the problems we have are problems fans of other teams wish they had.

It's actually been brought up that Allen or even Kennard could possibly be thrust into the position. I think all of those are possibilities. Hell at one point, not saying this would be the best idea, Tatum was regarded as a point guard.

Plenty of times in the past, K has used multiple guys to bring the ball up. With no designated point guard, I'm with you I don't see why we won't see 4 or 5 guys bringing the ball up.

But Grayson I'm sure will get a crack at it as he's now three years entrenched in the offense. Why not?

So to sum up and resolve every argument on here in the last 2 months:

We will have no player we can call a "true" point guard, but we will have at least 4 guys that can play a similar role. I can't wait to see how K fits those pieces together. Regardless of characterizations, we will still be awesome. I, and I assume all here, will watch with great zeal like always. Good, that's out of the way.

To get on topic, I'm excited to see these guys. It's great to hear Giles is doing so well with the rehab. I always find myself more interested in the guys that aren't so talked about. I can't wait to see what Javin gives us, even if it's limited. I especially want to see Jeter's improvement. Excited for that kid.

I really like the thought of Javin, and not just for this season. Should we land any of Wendell Carter, Bamba, Deng Gak or Marques Bolden (who I think is a two year player) and couple them with Jeter and Javin and Vrank should he stick it out after this season, we have a core on the interior that is extremely formidable. From there, the staff can really put the clamps on some of the talented guards coming in 2017 and mainly 2018.

Like Amile, Javin is a guy who can really put together a team by doing things regularly that allow other guys to play to a specific skill set. With Javin, your bigs can focus on shot blocking and getting down floor because he'll rebound. Or your guards know they'll have a screen and roll option because of his length and athleticism. Or on perimeter defense, the wings know where the play is headed because they have a communicator and if they get beat, that guy will be there for help side D. We're going to really love Javin DeLaurier by the time he leaves.

In recruiting Javin, the staff could have put more into Wenyen Gabriel, but he wouldn't have been at Duke long if he even came, meaning he wouldn't have had the same long term impact. It's almost the same exact scenario as the 2012 recruiting period when the staff went hard after Poythress and Jefferson and ultimately conceded Poythress to UK and went with Amile. Same schools, same positions, same coaches, hopefully same results.
