If you're looking for someone to root for this weekend, NU's own Tavaras Hardy has coached Loyola-Maryland to the Patriot League title game this Sunday against Colgate. They've had a very weird season, they only played 14 regular season games and 6 of them were against Lafayette. They only played against 4 different teams all year before beating Army in the Patriot semis tonight. They're 6-10 overall and I assume would be the first 7-win team to ever make a modern NCAA tournament.

Colgate's the class of the league at 13-1 and will be a tough hurdle for the Greyhounds, but it would be cool to see them pull off the upset!

In the 64+ team era (since 1985), the lowest win total to make the tournament is 11, a record held jointly by 1995 FIU, 1996 UCF, and 1997 Fairfield, who all qualified at 11-18. If Loyola (MD) qualifies at 7-10, they will shatter that record, though they will have a better winning percentage than those teams.

I very much enjoy watching former NU coaches take 9-seeds on improbable Patriot League tournament runs.
