Got to give some props to this man boyz. He set the tone early. Took it to rim, battled all night on the boards.
His game was HUGE tonight. He flat out took it to FLA's bigs tonight. We don't win that game without him!!
Thank you gor recognizing Tavian. He was the top player tonight. Then Folgy, Koch and Stirtz.

Banks' contributions definitely got lost in the madness of Al's 3.....but we aren't in that position without his tenacity and ability to finish around the rim and get their entire front line in foul trouble. He was easily the toughest hombre on the court last night.

Kudos to him and hope he gets another year.

He even hit a 3-ball last night! Btw, does he need to start taking more 3-point shots given he makes almost half of 'em?

Great energy in the paint. His free throw shooting is pretty frustrating lately, especially when you consider he had that 30 streak going earlier, but he'll get it going in the remaining 4 games! Great Hawkeye.

He’s lasersed in, him and Folgers (sorry for name) are making this team formidable. They kind a remind me of the 1980 final four group not real deep,pg led some eerie comparisons. This group does not fear anyone except maybe Arizona. A Christian shall not lead us to temptation but the final horn BABY!!!! Is this heaven, no it’s Iowa you ****** bug eaters.😎

I think the FTs were a direct result of the physical nature of the game. He was expending ALOT of energy on the court battling those bigs.....

I got to see him in Tampa. Dude stepped it up for the tournament!! 🤩 I doubt he’ll be with us next year.
Why do you think Banks will not be back next year?
He is pretty much guaranteed a chance to return.... AND he definitely could use another year to work on his outside shot...
His NBA stock will double.

Explain how he gets another year. I don’t think it’s “guaranteed”

The new "Pavia Rule". It has already been thru the courts. Deigo was awarded an extra year because his first year was with a Juco that is non-NCAA sanctioned...
Similar to a Prep-School (think the Murray twins).
It is guaranteed from now on, Non-NCAA schools do not count towards NCAA eligibility.
With court legal precedent, the NCAA will not pay to lose in court... For now. Unless the rules changed, and pass the courts, everyone who previously played, will be granted another year...
Tavion Banks fits that description... 😁

Not sure Tavion has the size to play in the league. Will be great in Europe if he wants to continue.

Size is the least of his concerns going into the league. If he's back next year and his 3pt percentage stays 40%+ at a higher volume, he's going to get a chance in the league. But his volume needs to at least triple to prove this year wasn't a fluke, because another year of 18/40 isn't turning scouts heads.

And if he comes back next year he’s not shooting 3 times as many 3’s as he did this year. Thats not his role in our offense.

Good point. He needs to prove it... I do think he will test the waters. But the reality is, he'll need to really pick up his game to make the league.

It wasn’t his role this year because he was ~20% from deep in past seasons, so I doubt anyone expected this from him. Banks said he got contacts and can see, now he’s doubled that percentage. (I have so many questions about this lol)

I have no idea if his volume would triple or not, I just pulled a number out of my a$$ based on what I’d like to see as a scout. Roughly 4 attempts a game would do it.

But you’re right he’s undersized to be a stretch big in the league. However, if his shot is/becomes consistent, it’s like he was built in a lab to be a 3 and D guy.

I’m sure Banks and coach will have talks about it, but roles will change this offseason. We’re going to have to replace Bennetts production with our current squad plus, barring transfers out, the 2 remaining spots. I wouldn’t shocked to see Banks pick up a fair share of that scoring.

This. Solid college player on sheer effort. Dime a dozen at the next level. If Joe cool and Utoff couldn't stick in the league, I'd be shocked to see Banks as basically a 6'7" forward making it in the mans game.....
