Unless they lose, in which case they will be booed relentlessly. Those guys are on their own, and you can bet that they know it.
I would hope to think a majority of the fans understand the situation these guys are in and stand behind them win or lose. I am sure there were some band wagon weenies that will boo but they should just be throat punched by those of us that will stick with them thru good and bad.

Big yes and a little no. If the story about bickering over NIL money in the locker room is true, a good part of this is on the players as well. They either don't get coached or don't respond to coaching. Probably depends on who you ask.

I prefer to put the blame where it belongs: The head coach. The head coach who requested an extension from the AD, was told no, and then went over his head and still failed to get one earlier this year. The head coach who according to this same former player (Langdon Tengwell), who reported this extension attempt, quit on the team against Northwestern. I'll take that perspective over the story of bickering over NIL money because to me it seems plausible.

Dumb question: In what way did Franklin quit on the team against northwestern?

Yeah I think there may be merit to that. The players should have shown more effort against UCLA with a Pop Warner coach at the helm. Maybe the bickering began after the Oregon loss. In any event, we can all watch our savior audition tonight against Minnesota.

We are currently the laughing stock of the CFB world. Some of you better grow some thicker skin real fast. We are only halfway through the season and without a head coach and our key offensive and defensive players.

I feel very safe in saying that the Iowa fans will show the same respect that we do for them. Very little. We have ****** fans, they have ****** fans.

See my other post. What the hell do you mean Franklin quit on the team. I don’t have a problem with his firing but stop the BS; the players quit on Franklin plain and simple. DDS in particular should be embarrassed when he watches the UCLA film.

Its pro football now. It is what it is. Folks can choose how they prefer to "react" to it. I wouldn't make any judgements vav their decisions on how to react - either way.

I think it is most fair to say the PROGRAM "quit" (Hate that word, but it might be the best one to encapture the spirit of the program. It is - in this case - maybe a way to summarize the fact that there is no spirit or fight or all of those things one normally wants to ascribe to a team. The obverse of, for example, 2012)
From a fan's perspective, maybe the easiest Penn State team to root for, ever, was the 2012 PSU Football squad. This group may be the one that, more than any other, tests a fan's limits wrt "buy in".

Franklin has looked distracted from the first game this season. I wonder if his reported shenanigans about a contract extension made him bitter and that bitterness seeped into the program leading to apathy. That is my best guess.

Distracted for sure. Reason(s), no idea.

I’m only excited cause our boy the TGAR is there. I’m hoping he takes a pic of his Sunday am airport breakfast. Ihate Iowa as much as the next guy but Colin made an interesting point. Just like Jalen’s backup is the most popular player in Philly if they lose to vikings, the interim coach is the same if he goes better than 500. Imagine signing this clown for 5 years if he beats Iowa and Hoosiers. A yawn nightmare. Let’s go 1-4 and put a fork in this big game bitchhh regime

So you're not a Terry Smith fan? At least to see how he can do as a HC at the collegiate level?

I don't see any scenario where Terry Smith gets the HC job, so I'm rooting hard for us to win. Don't forget - Iowa fans are the worst.

Its over Franklin is gone, and the boos won't come now. It's time to root for them and build for the future.

Ask the former player what he meant - he said it multiple times: Franklin quit on the team.
