Tee is getting his shot...was only a matter of time...

thought maybe his name would pop up here...but it never did...

we'll see how it goes...if it goes well, will be interesting to where his name starts to pop up for HC a few years from now...

Is that the same Tee Martin that everyone on here seemed to think was a great recruiter but a lousy coach?

Does that sound familiar?

yeah...

he is associated with the joker era...so that doesn't help him in these parts...but apparently he should've been the one calling the shots...i guess he was the diamond in the rough on that staff...

always been known as a good recruiter...but apparently he is overall a great football mind...Helton has pretty much banked his career on it...

something to keep an eye on...

Got to give joker credit. He saw something in tee to bring him here. First P5 job after only one year of D1 college coaching for a 1-11 team.

Wonder if he returns the favor and brings joker to USC. Only seems fair.

The story at the time is that Joker was scouting Sanders game and said he was very impressed at the number of young players that knew Tee and how he interacted with them, decided on the spot he had to hire him if at all possible. I think Tee was at New Mexico or New Mexico State at the time.

I don't remember the lousy coach part. You must be making that up in an effort to keep your internet tough guy persona going. I do remember people wanting to write him a blank check to keep him from leaving - as if the program would shut completely down if he left.

It looks like he made some wise career moves, but it always takes a little luck. In Martin's case, Kiffin lured him to SC - probably because of his reputation as a recruiter. He's retained - along with Helton - after the Kiffin firing. When the new guy gets canned for off the field behavior, the interim guy - whom Martin had been working with - surprisingly gets one of the best jobs in college football on a permanent basis. I'm not sold that SC should have settled for the status quo with Helton, but both he and Martin have their shot.

Well, you could be right, in that some of our fans didn't think he was any lousier than any other coach that we have had------at least to some of our fans.

Why, when I think about all the great receivers he developed while here it isn't any wonder that a big program came after him, there was ------

Wait a minute, I'm sure I will come up with the list soon, it's so long that it kind of overwhelms me. Of course it does make a tremendous difference when you are coaching five stars instead of two stars. which a lot of our fans don't seem to understand.

But thanks, I like that, internet tough guy persona, LOL.

Are you handicapping the bowl games based on recruiting stars?

No, but then it seems to work pretty well for Bama.

In individual cases it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference what your star rating is, but in whole classes I think it makes a great difference------I even think QB is important enough that it can also can make a lot of difference, but then I hope Phillips can still turn out great, not impossible IMO.

I still think Joker's class from 07 that were his senior leaders his first year that had NINETEEN two stars that averaged a robust 5.1 something didn't give him much of a chance to win the SEC.
