Charges have been filed. I hope like hell they spend a long time in prison. People nowadays suck, period.

Present company excluded, of course.

I read a little bit ago that they won't be charged. Ridiculous if true.

I may be wrong but I thought I read, about an hour ago, they were being charged. I'm half asleep, so I may have read another story, but I remember this one due to the incredibly inhuman nature of the screwed up teens.

Well just read that there is a misdemeanor route they are trying to take, at least it is something.

Wonder how those little ***** would feel if people did the same thing to their family members.

It's obvious his survivor instincts kicked in regardless of the argument he was in.

Damn.

Our nation is so f'd because nobody has empathy for their fellow human anymore, partly because we see anywhere from 40 to 60 percent of our fellow Americans as enemies because of GD politics and we only know how to communicate via memes and text messages.

Just be good to each other. If you see someone in distress, help em out. At the end of the day, that person who might not think, look or act like you is still someone's son/daughter/wife/husband/mother/father/brother/sister.

Bet that none of those kids make it to their thirtieth birthday. That will help society.

Not defending them but other than calling 911 what else could they have done?

He looked way out there and I have no clue how good of swimmers they were or that they could have saved him.

They were cheering him on to drown and laughing about it.

Well, besides making an attempt to rescue him or call 911, maybe they could've, I don't know, maybe reported what happened so people wouldn't be looking for him for 3 days?

If I was the guy's family I wouldn't want them charged with anything. They are easier to get to if they aren't in jail.

I'm not so naive as to believe yesterday was full of nothing but wonderful people, but it does atleast seem like people today are more callous than ever. I truly lay that at some level at the feet of interpersonal disconnect and hanging out getting information on life from internet pop culture stupid *** media and art.

Blame the parents...but they're victims of the same crap. Blame the schools...like they enjoy this crap. Blame the government...can't legislate morality.

I've got to lower my already abysmal hope for the future.

I hope they all get what they deserve in this life. Not one of them had a drop of kindness.

Good vs evil and those ******** never take a day off.

The world is clearly much better off today but we get to see everything because everything is captured on camera.

Yup, not arguing that they weren't douches but what could they have done?
Called 911 with the phone instead of using it as a video camera.
Tried to get someone else's attention.
Not laugh as someone struggled for their life.

You have my vote for worst take of 2017.

This is the one time I hope it turns into black lives matter and they decencd on Florida like birds heading south for the winter. I know they can't take legal action but they can atleast offer a reward and find out who these kids were to exploit them and ruin their lives.

If Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer can be jailed for criminal indifference, these guys can get the same or worse.

Stories like these are so damn depressing. They watched him go in the water and struggle, so what do they do? Pull out their stupid phones and start recording.
