did we ever score on our first drive last year and to come out vs the #9 team and straight down their throat instantaneously let you know we got the right coach. if you had any doubts before, that drive alone let's you know we've got a team again. honestly,. it gave me more than and was probably the most perfect start the team could have had. we've to young of a group to have maintained perfect composure thru the whole game, jsut too much pressure for having not been there in awhile, but damn, i was clapping the whole drive. it's almost like having back pain for yours then a doc gives you a cortizone shot and the pain instantly goes away. drive 1 erased every play of last year. Go Cards!

Going up 14-7 changed my outlook.
Never thought they would lead.
Instead of 4 or 5 wins, i can see 6 as a possibility.

I'm excited about the season now for sure. More than before. Before last night I was hoping for 4 wins. Now I'm hoping for a bowl game but I am concerned about injuries. We're not a deep football team so losing starting players to injuries would be catastrophic IMO.
As a UK fan who has posted once to wish you guys luck last night, I will say that the Cards showed a lot of moxie and played very hard last night. Take away the turnovers and who knows what the outcome might have been. Coach Satterfield called a very good game last night, and I believe he is going to do a good job at Louisville. The way your team played last night was quite the contrast to how you played the last half of last season. Good luck the rest of the way.
It felt like whatever was left of the rotten stench from last year was finally, completely gone.
And that will force us to catch.

That throw to TuTu in the EZ was perfect. And he drops it.
Notre Dame has one of the better D-lines in the country not to mention they were constantly stacking the box and run blitzing last night and we ran for 249 yards on the 9th ranked team in the country.
Although our opponents will have last night’s video to study, we will likely only see one more defensive front like that the rest of this year.
I agree Puma can improve his game but he’s also being asked to do a lot more with his legs this year.
Definitely going to open things up. I like to think how awesome this offense will be when we can get Seth and Dez more balls thrown to them. As it was, they were awesome last night blocking downfield, as were others.
Agreed - the real test to see if Pass can be the guy to lead the team will come not against against nd or Clemson, but the rest of the schedule. You could expect him to be looking to get rid of the ball quickly last night - let’s see how (if) he goes thru his progressions when he has the time. As good as Fitzpatrick and Dawkins are - they have never been able to get early separation - and that certainly has contributed to both Puma and Malik getting happy feet. Oh, and ****** play from the OL in the past. Let’s hope coach Ledford can clean that up.
That’s a great point about Dez and Seth not getting separation. They are Uber talented catching the ball like a Jarvis Landry but like Landry, not the elusive WR off the snap.
Love coach Ledford and him getting his guys to execute and give that effort on every play. They weren’t perfect but besides Becton, they weren’t supposed to be.
Ledford made that hack Ken Klenkokis or whatever his name was look horrible in comparison. Knucklehank would know more but I’m guessing this is a fun offense to block for.
When I was looking up Coach Satterfield I came across an article that focused on his philosophy. Here is a quote about lineplay:
“The main idea with this style of offense is to use a variety of formations, sweeps, and multiple ball carriers to obscure the fact that the offense is ultimately just blocking a few base run schemes and to provide easy constraints for the offense to punish the defense with. Rather than using the option, the spread, or the passing game to protect the base runs the offense uses confusion.”
It’s a fun offense...it’s fairly simple to execute but you can confuse the defense. It’s a Run first offense, which certainly appeals to the big uglies up front. Dwayne Ledford is highly respected in the industry and it’s really a testament to Coach Satt and his relationship with coaches that he was able to get Ledford. One thing to note about our offense is that we will occasionally get flagged for chop blocks. We will use a lot of cut blocking and combo blocking. When you combine the two you will get some chop blocks called.
Thanks for that explanation. If I remember correctly the 49ers of the Steve Young era and the Broncos in the Terrell Davis run and maybe even before and after used to be known as unethical or dirty by cutting guys and I’ll always agree when a flag is thrown for a chop when I guy is engaged up high.
I also could see where shorter, quicker guys on the O-line in tandem could get into a d lineman’s lower half and render them useless on a quick hitter, thus pissing them off.
Sure was fun to watch the change.
