Testing Results?

A lot was made of how the football team tested out last year. They just finished their round of testing post-winter-conditioning.

Anyone know if those results are going to be released/mentioned? We of course got the obligatory player quote about how it was the best conditioning session ever...

I expect it to be released, but not all players. If it was me, I'd either list the top 20 (10 offense, 10 defense) or top 2 at each position group but definitely not the entire team. Testing numbers are good, for within the program, but are absolutely bad for fans.

Just curious...why are they bad for fans?

Player x scores the highest, and is 3rd on the depth chart. Fans overreact based on the testing, chaos created.

Agreed.

Production on the field is more important than test results.

Fans have to trust what the coaches see every day in practice.

I posted this a bit back on another thread, but college football is littered with athletic guys who couldn't put it together on the field. As for the testing results, it would be interesting to see the level of improvement (or lack thereof) for players.

Agreed, we ***** enough when someone makes a mental mistake, drops a ball, or fails to make a tackle. Imagine compounding that with judgments made about perceived lack of effort and dedication if all the testing numbers became public. No thanks.

Fully agree with these points. Don't want individual results to be used to blast kids, but I would be very interested on an update as to what kind of progress they made over the last round of testing numbers as a team.

Maybe give me some anonymous numbers on "The top results from this position group were these" but I am hoping that Epley will comment on how he thinks they're progressing.

I have an update. Insiders report players are "are moving around well..." RollingLaugh

This is very insightful and highly private information so please try and act accordingly...SmokinSmokinSmokin

God I hope they don't release testing results. I don't want to read all the posts here from guys who can lift more, jump higher and run faster than the players. Ha ha.
It really becomes the lamest posts! "Only 335 on bench, when I was in high school, a C1 school mind you, we had 11 guys on that team that did 335 or more"

I wonder if that's adjusted for height and weight? Seems a little unfair to put Darlington head-to-head with DTs and OL.

Am I reading the article correctly? Last August 3 players scored over 1800 on the 3 combined tests, no player scored over 1800 on this current round of 3 combined tests. Maybe some more results will be posted prior to fall ball.

That's how I read it too. The Davis twins are great athletes, but it is a little disappointing not to see guys like Bando and Gerry, who have been here for years, putting up better numbers.

Me too. I believe Carlos has been doing better in track and was ahead of Kahili on the depth chart. Surprised not to see him on the list.
Davis was extra motivated by his twin brother Carlos Davis, who's also a redshirt freshman defensive lineman. “My brother’s as strong as I am,” Khalil said. “Carlos didn’t make the finals like I did, but he can do what I just did, so I wanted this for him as much as for myself.”
