I remember when I had hopes he would choose to play for NU, as his mom was an alum, but thank goodness he went to MSU. The kid is playing great, and I can only imagine how his talents would have been wasted at NU. Obviously, this speaks to the state of the basketball program at Northwestern. If I feel that way, I can only imagine how future recruits feel about NU.

Choosing Northwestern basketball takes, until further notice, a great leap of faith for any top-tier talent with NBA aspirations. This is the case whether or not a kid had purple in his wardrobe as a kid.

I think Collins took a better approach this cycle, targeting more 40-100 types. Of course, it’s worked out terribly.

Recruiting NU is tough. The best class NU ever gets will be weaker than weak classes for the programs NU competes with.
