Here's a great read from Brandon as he officially declares for the NBA draft. I liked this 'snippet' best of all.

"My time is almost over here in Durham. Today as I declare for the NBA Draft, I’m both excited and sad about this moment.

On one hand, one year at Duke isn’t a very long time. I know that. But I’ve done a lot of growing, and growing up, in that time. I know by leaving I’ll miss out on a lot of friendships and opportunities. I’ll really miss all the students who showed me so much love. One of my favorite parts of the Duke basketball tradition is the high-five line at the end of home games. The students who camp out for seats for up to a week before a game — and get in their seats two hours early — are always still there after the final buzzer. Win or lose. You guys gave me the energy and support that I needed. I’ll never forget you all."

@VaBlueDevil33 sorry I didn't realize this thread was about Brandon and I started my own....I just went ahead and merged them.

If you can, please edit the subject of your thread to read 'Thank you, Brandon Ingram'....that way people will know what it's about. Thanks!

Wow! He's a phenomenal writer. I loved the story about Coach K asking him about his Instagram quote, "Stay humble and stay hungry."

Great kid and great player. Has some of the highest NBA upside of any Duke player in the past 15 years. I really hope he doesn't end up on the Sixers. He should have a stellar career though.

@dukiejay I can't figure out how to edit the title....feel free to delete it and use yours if you want...I should have put him name in the title just slipped my mind

You're not the only one, VaBlue. I guess too many of my brain cells have died off, but I can't figure out how to edit the title of a thread. Maybe someone will post directions for us.

I actually think he will wind up the #1 pick. Several NBA analysts (including players), the latest of which is Chauncey Billups, like Ingram better than Simmons. There are some negatives with Simmons: his team did not win; and it was dysfunctional given its talent level; he's not demonstrated himself to be an outside shooter.

Ingram, OTH, is a quality shooter. Can handle the ball like Simmons. Is a quality shooter. Has 7'3'' arms. Has yet to really grow into his body.

I think Ingram could turn into a Kevin Durant type of player. He just needs to get stronger.

What an incredible read. His humility and gratitude are so beyond his years. I love his tributes to each of his teammates. We've been so blessed to have him.

Congrats, Brandon! We're proud of who you are and excited for where you're going.

Wow. That's high character stuff. Good luck young man!

This may sound odd but ever since I saw Brandon's once he took the court for Duke I could see that high character in his face. He never seemed to be upset and always gave his team mates support and respect. His body language and other things just seemed reflect things positive. He is well spoken and when I have heard him being interviewed he didn't just say things just to say them. I have no doubt that he went to class not because Coach K demanded it but he wanted to go. One more thing. I'm pretty old school and it took me a long time to accept the popularity of tattoo's. I still believe that most that have them will live to regret it because of aging but I have stopped a long time ago judging people with tattoo's . So when I saw all of Brandon's I didn't even think twice about it. Danged even J.J. Redick has bought into it big time. Ok young guys how's that for being open minded by this old fart. :D OFC
