Curious on the below...

▪︎How many people will you be visiting w this yr?

▪︎How many different families?

▪︎Are you breaking your state recommendation, executive order, law, threat, all of the above?

▪︎How is it different than regular TDay?

Me...
Wife x 1
Kids x 3
Parents x 2
In Laws x 2
Bros in Law x2

2 different households visiting and it differs because it is usually at my parents house with no in laws, and about 40 people in extended family on Mom's side. We are also going to wear masks inside...hoping for nice weather and do most outside.

8 folks this time. Immediate family plus one. Usually we travel and have 10. Saving on gas, but gonna miss that gravy.

As many as I damn well please. Andy is welcome also, as long as he brings booze.

I mean...do little kids count who aren't even in school? My oldest is 7 and has been virtual all year.

Also, my wife and kids are visiting the in laws this weekend while I am at home with pup and honey do list. I visit my parents at least 3 days a week. Bros in law live with in laws still.

That is 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon....

Also, shouldn't these recommendations be based off capacity? If gym is 33% couldn't we do the same with houses?

If someone has 8 people in a 800 square ft apartment vs 20 in a 4000 square ft house isn't that a difference?

I've got in laws who talk like all the righties here but are dropping out like crazy. We're probably going to be around 8 - 10, with some reevaluation the day of. The ones still committed are pretty trustworthy so I feel pretty safe going. One's a teacher, might have to eat on the porch.

Not going all the way home for Thanksgiving, but am hosting a party with friends the Saturday after. We’ve invited about 75 people, and are preparing for 40ish to attend. It’s gonna be a blast. Great food and heavy drinking.

F anyone who doesn’t approve. IMHO.

Ways around the limits...

- Call it a political rally.
- Say that you’re a new religion and you’ve gathered to worship your turkey god.
- Say that you’re occupying the house as a peaceful protest, and call it an autonomous zone.

But to answer the question....4. Down from the usual 8 of years past.

Pretty certain my wife's gma has given up. She's been out a lot with her cousin and doesn't do much to mitigate.

So we're all following her lead and she wants the family at Thanksgiving.

After going through what I did with my gma, when she legit wanted help to end her run, I believe she would have wanted to the same.

Imagine your last Thanksgiving is spent sitting alone in isolation without loved ones. That's tough to rationalize but I think many seniors are there with this. I follow the lead of my elders in this.

Same as always, wife, daughter, in laws and a friend or two who are invited each year.

No change in numbers.

Same as always. 9 people and 2 dogs. My sister in laws brothers come sometimes but not every year so I'm not sure about them. But we are doing Thanksgiving just like we do every year. Golf in the morning, food in the afternoon, and football and bourbon at night

One thing that will be weird is the football. I was a lifelong Redskins fan and since they decided to fold the team and reopen under whatever crap name they have now they are far and away my least favorite team in any sport. They haven't been on TV so far this year. It will be weird to watch a game that the Cowboys are involved in and actively root for them.

None, actually. We're heading back to East TN in the morning and staying through Christmas. We suggested putting it off, and surprisingly everyone was in agreement, even relieved. My FIL is nearly 80, is a diabetic and has congestive heart failure. My MIL has some breathing issues. My SIL has MS. It would be bad news for any of them if they got infected, and normally, there would have been 16 of us there.

If you clog up the interstates to travel to a place to stay overnight(s) with relatives:

1 You’re part of the problem
2 You likely overstay your welcome.

Eat ****. Handfuls of it.
(Obvious exception if close relative is dying)

The only clogged interstates we run into are in South Carolina where their archaic, crumbling sections of I-95 and I-26 are as bad as you'll find anywhere. I've always wondered what the **** they do with their highway funds, because they sure don't spend it on their roads. If it didn't take us way out of our way, I'd go through Georgia and never enter South Carolina again. In SC, you can go from a standstill to running 80, and back to a standstill within a few miles and for no apparent reason. Oh yeah, we're not staying overnight(s) with relatives. We still have a home in TN and don't plan on selling until maybe my in-laws are gone, just in case we have to go back for an extended period to take care of them.

And I will add I got it from someone who was asymptomatic and the person they got it from was as well.
