Having watched the first MD game, and with the current offensive futility, it is laugh out loud funny to think NU will win at MD Tuesday.....
I don't know what virus it is that infects our basketball team when we play Penn State, but as I live in Pa. and my brother is a Penn State alum, it has gotten very irritating. Hell, even our women's team that was ranked at the time lost to a .500 Penn State team.
I was at the game in MD last year with my son, who I've successfully insulated from the anguish that is NU hoops. Not for a moment did I let myself fall for the illusion that we might win.
Anybody except LolRutgers can be anybody in this league. The Illini victory over Purdue proved that.
Hopefully, your prediction of defeat against Maryland will be as accurate as your prediction for the same against Columbia.
Did NU beat Columbia in regulation time? A Columbia team that is a middling 12-6 right now? I sure hope NU beats MD but not hanging my hat on it.
Instead, I'm clinging to your guarantee that this is the season NU breaks through to make the NCAA Tournament.
That said, our O futility is primarily from 3 and the FT line. Inside the arc, we were over 50%, And we have played pretty well on the road. Maybe they are pressing too hard at home. Good D and hitting a couple shots early and I can see it happening.
