Schools will be punished for what Dean and Roy got away with. They had the bogus system down to a science, and could lie like no one else. I will FOREVER point to what Dean and Bill Guthridge told successor Matt Doherty: "Dont Change Academics." SMH..Denying dozens of African American athletes of a proper education.

Roy who was part of the "school from Chapel Hole" coaching tree was well familiar with the AFAM set-up when he succeeded Coach Doh. Still love that Auburn blowout in the Sweet 16: "PEARL JAM!"

It rubs me so raw everytime I see a thread about the cheaters and how long it went on. The only reason hof coach roy williams stopped his players from taking the course is he got wind that the cat was out of the bag and he was going to salvage his carcass the best he could. I feel swofford knew everything and may have been the one to warn hof coach roy williams that something was coming down. Much to their surprise 20 million and powerful people influenced the NCAA into the hands clean verdict. hof coach roy williams knew they were getting a free pass months before the final decision came in. Here's what pisses me off so much is the arrogance he had in whining about the investigation costing him top players. It should have cost both he and swofford their jobs. Now tell me how are you gonna punish any school now if they break the rules when they let the cheaters off. Bottom line is no matter what the dirt is still under that whiney, wussy blue rug. OFC

It is really hard to take the ncaa serious. My viewership of college sports has steadily dropped over the last 5-10 years for many reasons. But took a huge nose dive since the unc verdict. And totally agree that swoff should be long gone.

I know there was a lot of hope that the Cheats would pay a hefty price for their scandal, but with Swofford in the position that he is in you just about knew that they were going to come out of it without penalty. Amazing what Swofford and millions of dollars can get you out of if you are in Cheat Hill

Guys, this is completely hearsay that can be taken for what it is worth but a friend of mine who went to UNC in the 60's said that he was in a history class and on the last day of the class the Professor said, " Well, well....everyone look who finally graced us in class today......Mr. Billy Cunningham!

He told me that story over 20 years ago to which I gave no thought to. Knowing what we know about Dean Smith now, very possibly true.

Let's not forget the unc sport shaving scandal during the 60-61 season. You see the dirt goes back a long way at unc cheater u. See I almost even forgot about that. That's why we need to be reminded constantly about how big the cheating is and how far it goes back. Wasn't dean an assistant at the time? OFC

Rasheed Wallace failed on multiple attempts to get the required 700 SAT score. Somehow he was eventually granted admissions into the school. I'm suspicious that the academic fraud may have started with Wallace. He first attended UNC in the fall of 1993, which correlates well with the time period that is often reported (1993-2011).

I guess anything that keeps the UNX scandal in the news is good, but this does nothing to erase the benefits they derived from 18 years of cheating. I think of UNX's success in the same way as East German's women's teams' success.

I went to St. John's and a basketball player was in my class. Let's just say he wasn't exactly there every day.

As much as the NCAA portrays itself as some holy governing body, it’s anything but that when it comes to the “money making” schools. Laying down the ban-hammer on UNC hoops effects their pockets and they’ll avoid hurting business at all costs.
