Jasper & Jelavic. Tonight, they shine.
I'd love to see Jasper break out but I see this as a battle for rebounds and interior play. If we get hot from outside that'll definitely put pressure on Mi St defense and rebounding, though..and will shift the flow to our advantage. They wanna slow it down and we wanna play fast. I think we win by 9 but it could be a rock fight if we aren't hitting from outside.

If Aberdeen and/or Mo don't have 2 fouls by the 1st time out I'll be shocked. MSU bullies everybody but somehow shoots all of the fts. Unfortunately I don't see JJ or Jelavic being quite ready for this kind of physicality. Hope I'm wrong.

MSU does exactly that. They are gonna be a tough out unless we can hit a bunch of threes. Thier inside guys are as good if not better than ours. It's thier main scoring threat. We have to play them even in the post.
This will be a war.

I think we win but it's gonna be close.

Unfortunately, we're gonna need Garrison to play strong. Hope he steps up
He stepped up in the CC last year against a better team. I hope he brings it tonight. Been a slow start beside one game for him so far. Let’s hope he gets in a groove soon. We need him to play his best.

Possible. I do think we need Jasper to play adequately and for all of our guards to limit the unforced turnovers, but like GoAndRunIsGoneAndDone (🤣) said I see this as a rebounding and defense battle. Our bigs have to bring their lunchpails and be ready to do work in the post all night.

This one is a bigger deal as far as defining the season than last Tuesday IMO because it's a neutral site and we'll very rarely play a team as offensively talented as Jefferson County Community College. This is as close to a must-win as it gets in November. Lose this one and it sets an early bad trend in big games, and a VERY toxic energy starts to take over the team and this fan base. Win and it keeps the sharks that smell blood in the water at bay for a few days. And not only that, but IMO on paper this SHOULD be a win for us. Just looking at the record, Izzo in the regular season is VERY different from Izzo in March. That doesn't mean our guys can deliver one of those inexplicable sleepwalking, zero energy, going through the motions type of games and expect a win.

One thing Michigan State does ELITE is rebound the basketball and that is the stat that I'm keeping an eye on (outside of the score, obviously). An absurd 45+ rebounds in every game so far, and a 17+ average rebound margin. We don't have to outrebound them in order to win, we just have to keep the rebound differential under 10. A 10-15 rebounding margin for MSU makes it dicey for us, but still within the realm of possibility for a win. A 15+ rebounding edge for Sparty and it's going to be a long night. Something like MSU 39-UK 30 on the boards and UK 12 or fewer turnovers is right on the cutoff line of where I'd still feel comfortable saying the Cats will get the win.

MoD is the mvp tonight. 88-87 Cats. He gets game winning offensive rebound and put back.

Oweh gets his head out of his *** tonight and scores 25. Has a couple of his signature break away dunks.

Gonna say Kam Williams has another solid night.
