I would add that we humiliated one of the Big 2 (OSU) and beat the other one at their home. The Big 10 media could not let that go unpunished.

You can add the Pittsburgh media to that and, as well, Beano Cook who lobbied nationally for Nebraska primarily due to his hatred of Penn State.
Beano had a love/hate relationship with Penn State and Paterno.
He did have high respect for Paterno as a coach, but deep down resented his success. That largely because of his Pitt ties.
