Yeah, the running game has always been a huge part of BP's system. BP talks about the running game and its importance, but he doesn't use his backs.

Does BP not trust his RBs? A head scratcher.

I think Petrino wants his QB to be able to make good decisions in the flow of the game. It's not just calling and executing a play.

Ultimately, it may be an issue of whether Lamar is capable of that. It has little to do with his freakish athletic ability and more to do with what's between his ears. He may be a mere mortal in that regard...

i.e. - give him less responsibility, because the opposing defense entire game plan is to focus on him.

The reality is teams have figured out Lamar. Purdue and UNC had the right game plan, take away his ability to run/limit big plays, but they just didn't have the players to execute the game plan. Clemson has the players and coaching to make Lamar beat them with his arm and head. At this point he isn't capable of reading defenses or throwing people open which is a must against really good defenses..

Can Lamar be a really good passing quarterback? I have my doubts, he made very few good reads or throws last night. I think this team is going to have to rely on the running game the rest of the season.
