The "elite" eight?

There are EIGHT teams with 3 or 4 losses ranked ahead of WVU, which is 14-3.

Nearly all of them are ranked above Huggins Heroes because of their history resume, not because they are better than WVU this season.

Want to bet how many of those 8 teams WVU could beat on a neutral floor?

Thankfully, rankings don’t matter in college basketball. Just be among the 68 teams that are in March Madness, win 6 straight games and you’re national champs.

Next victim of the Pitbull Defense: Missouri, high noon, Saturday in WVU Coliseum.

I can’t wait!!!

We will see where they are at. Especially on defense.

Outworking teams only works if you outwork them. 2016 NCAA Tournament for example
When your best player is hungry you have a chance.

Worry about size matchups with WVU
People who can slow you down in the middle

St. Johns, KSU.

Lot's of time left in basketball. Any team can beat any team. It's happened all year.

Rankings do matter Eers. Your tournament seed is crucial. Matchups are also crucial. Just being in the field of 68 is silly. A top 3 seed has a tremendous advantage getting to Sweet 16. Getting there as a 4-6 seed is much more difficult.

Lowly KSU had something to say about that Pitbull defense.
Absolutely. And a learning experience for Huggins to harp on. And you can get he did. As I've posted MANY times it is not enough to be the better team; you have to play better to win the game! Kansas State, without brawling, reminded all of us and Huggins Heroes of that. Believe me, it will help WVU in every game from now on. You just don't show up. You have to bring your A game or you get an F in the final score!

Tournament seeds matter only if you're a wimp team. If you are Huggins Heroes with a Pitbull Defense you have a chip on your shoulder that says: Bring it on; we're ready! Win 6 games in March Madness and you are national champs, just like WVU was in 1942 when it won the NIT, THE national tournament at that time. The NCAA still was in diapers and was 2nd choice for teams that got bids from both. Maybe WVU can be both the NIT national champ of 1942 and the NCAA national champ of 2020! It could happen!

You do get boring Greggy. Way too emotional. You expect people to react in the same way.

Be alright.

All ******** aside I think once we separate the schools Pitt will be a power in the G5.

Have two playoffs.
Once for schools who can compete on one level
All the ones who think playing UCF is a big game.

St John's and kstate will not be in the tourney on their home floor. I guess Duke should quit they lost to a scrub team, Baylor should quit they lost to the last place team in the big 12, florida st is #5 and couldnt beat sorry *** lowly sPitt, nova got smoked by cant beat anybody o$u but beat kansas who we couldnt beat. Everybody just quit. Alot of teams can lose a regular season game,.especially on the road, so what, its different come tournament time with preparation and no homecourt. A couple teams more than usual that can advance a little bit sure, but unlimited title contenders is nonsense. A sPitt fan talking about the tournament and what other teams need Lmao, the 3rd best team in the Pittsburgh area. People act like teams hosting regular season games is the NCAA tournament

Didn't I read that ranked teams have lost about 160 games this season already to unranked teams? So this post doesn't make a lot of sense. Anyway, I can't wait for the high noon shootout Saturday between the Show Me state and the We'll Show You state!!!

You really don’t know much about the history of the NCAAs. Your first sentence proves to everyone on this site that you know little and your so-called beat writing gig was a joke. Sadly this was not my intention and the others can clearly see that. Dementia clearly takes over in the back half of your post. Godspeed old timer.

So you're ignoring the plethora of upsets of Top 25 teams by unranked teams this season? And you think that won't happen in March Madness? Dementia apparently knows no age category.

Not ignoring that at all. But that’s relative. If your argument, which it is, is that seedings don’t matter in NCAAs you’re obviously not paying attention to the last two or three decades. Kinda makes you the village idiot sadly. You are apparently proof that any moron can do a local sports beat gig haha. Not that I’m calling you a moron.

How can there be so many nitpickers on here over a team that is 16-3, demolishes opponents with its defense and rebounding, after the calamitys season last time around? Huggins Heroes support each other, through good times and mistakes, and public express love and respect for their coach. My God, what do you want, a team that never misses a free throw, or a field goal or a rebound? The only perfect Person in history was crucified! So why does anyone crucify the players or coach on this team that is doing far, far better than expected. And with Texas Tech the youngest team in the Big 12, on top of that. It's a puzzlement. Obviously, those nitpicking are CEOs of their companies because THEY are so perfect and never make a mistake?

Should enjoy it while we can.

Heard there’s another kid from my area that’s gonna be great. He’s under same guy that is in bed with Huggy. Same deal as WVU Freshman. I know he’s listed in mock first round drafts but if he stayed one more year he’s top 8.
