True. His monologues were full of gross exaggerations. However, he had a superb command of the English language. His word choices were impeccable.
I get why people love him, I just couldn’t stomach him for more than a couple minutes.
Over the years he became angry and it really showed in his performances. He was still funny but he had an edge

I disagreed with most of what he said but he was very clever in how he phrased his sentences. He gave a clinic in the use of the English language.
He was a keen observer of human nature in much the way that Mark Twain was.
He had some good bits on the Flip Wilson Show, such as Al Sleet, your hippy dippy weather man, bringing you your hippy dippy weather, …man.
