Wasn't there some match at Wimbledon between Isner (I think) and some other guy where they played almost 100 games in the 5th set alone?

Borg and McEnroe had some tennis classics!
The rivalry the OP mentioned has been/is a fantastic one also!

I disagree. The best matches were the ones I hit with 8, 9, and 10-1 underdogs.

The Fed/Nadal match is at the top of some lists, but it didn't have the heart and soul of the great ones of the prior era. They have had some great ones over the years but they just don't have the overall "I want to kill you" mentality as other rivalries did.

Mac/Borg US Open in 80; Mac/Connors Wimbledon in 82; and Chrissy/Martina at French in 85 were all better and were just gut punches.

Always been a fan of Jimmy Connors. That run he had at 39 years old getting to the US Open semis was amazing. Five set opening round vs Patrick McEnroe down 2 sets and a break in the third. Then the five setter with Krickstein down 2 sets to 1.
