Anthony Gaines will become the sixth Wildcat over the last five years to miss 22 or more games in a season.

I broke down the multi-game injuries by year and came up with some pretty staggering numbers. NU players have missed 263 games and counting during Chris Collins' six-plus years in Evanston.

"Gaines will miss at least 23 games, making him the sixth Wildcat over the last five seasons to miss at least 22 games in one season."

My math say he will miss at least 21 games: NU has 30 regular season games plus 1 tournament game, and Anthony played in 10. 31-10 = 21, no?

Are Turner and Buie expected to miss tonight's game?

and its interesting that 2 players account for 117 of those 263 games (almost 45% of the stat)

i had heard that if the team this year was good Gaines could have finished the year, but since its a young group rebuilding he elected go into the off-season healthy rather than miss most of the off-season. can't say if that is 100% true but heard that.

I think that's pretty obvious. He gave it a go for a while and, while he obviously wasn't what he was, if this was a tournament contender, he would have gutted it out and finished the season. This team is going nowhere -- might as well have the surgery, shut it down and get the year back in 21-22 when they should theoretically be good.

Math, my nemesis. Even counting trips me up sometimes.

any update on other teams numbers? and if 1-2 players account for almost half of the missed games for other teams in the B1G?
