Collins: ``I love these guys and what they've done for me and our program. I want them in these last 10 games without looking back. Whatever happened, happened. We still have half the league left. I'm always an optimist, always a believer. We had a 2-5 stretch last year. Have to take it one game at a time.''

This is exactly right. I was encouraged with what I saw against Ohio State and I feel the same way after beating Penn State.

There are two undefeated teams in the conference (Purdue and Ohio State), and NU came up just short against both. But they don't play either of them in the final 10 games. The two games against Michigan and the one against MSU loom large, but otherwise, here's what we're looking at:

@Minnesota (3-6)
@Wisconsin (3-4)
@Maryland (4-4)
@Rutgers (2-5)
vs. Maryland (4-4)
vs. Wisconsin (3-4)
@Iowa (1-7)

Every game from here on out could be considered single-elimination for the NCAA Tournament. Hope Falzon gets healthier because he tends to have good games against Minnesota, and the Cats will need that spark on the road. Then they have almost a full week to prepare for Michigan. A lot of basketball left. They're not giving up, and neither am I.

(Edit: the unselfish dynamic seems to be back for this team, which is going to be very important given how many road games are coming up: five of next six.)

Let's run the table, taking a cue from football. This schedule is doable.
