Generations of our Grandchildren will know who Coach K was with what he has done with his career and college basketball not to mention all the lives that he has impacted in a positive way on and off the court. What a legacy he will leave behind when he retires and is gone. I certainly feel blessed to have been able to follow his career at Duke from day 1 and all the money that I have spent purchasing National Championship memorabilia. It was worth every dime and I am ready to spend more before its over.

One note, if a coach comes along to eclipse K's records, I certainly will not drum up accusations nor hatred like the UNC faithful. Dean was a great coach who is respected by Duke fans. It's hilarious to watch UNC attempts to diminish everything K has accomplished.

It's ironic, but over the years, specifically on these message boards, I've come to learn it's the older UNC fans who have more hostility for him. The younger one's, interestingly, are able to think more rationally. Those older UNC fans grew up thinking Dean was a god and how dare anyone challenge him. They're still resentful and always will be. Always....even when K is retired and gone.

It's truly impressive. Many have taken it to a whole new level. First it was K isn't as good as dean. Then it was K is a jerk to refs. Then it's K faked his back surgery in 95. Then it's continued to morph into actually hating the man himself, not just as a sports fan hating your rival but actually hating the human being. They spew actual venom at a guy they (and I can promise you on this) have no clue who he is, what he does for others, what his family, friends and former players think/feel about him and talk about how he is the devil reincarnated. How selfish, egotistical, vindictive etc. we are talking about a college basketball coach- not a ruthless war monger, who btw they've compared him too. And if that wasn't enough, the holier than thou crowd over there then had a number of them attack his wife's character! Say what you will about Duke fans, but I have never once seen any here, outside of here or anywhere attack a persons family. It's gotten to levels that are just disgusting. Again, we are talking about college freaking basketball. Get a grip.

It's this bad towards K because he's still coaching, not that they will like him years from now, but I think it will ease off a little after he's retired. The fire eased off Dean years later, and then a little more after he passed away.
