If Pope loves UK like he says he does, and has any honor at all, the only answer is to resign at the end of the season

Well, you can’t have a losing season at Kentucky in your second season after going to the sweet sixteen the previous one. We are truly in danger of this, we are still Kentucky and still have a big target on our backs and teams still want to bury us. The rest of the teams on our schedule are licking their chops to get in on the beat downs.
Oh you know this team will take the trailwhoopin’s that SEC teams have been craving to give UK for a long time.
At the end of the day this is 100% on Pope, and only on Pope.

The Sweet 16 ain’t all that great when you realize we were 6th in the SEC, got blown out by Alabama in the SEC tournament and then blown out by Tennessee in our NCAA appearance.

It’s the measuring stick most people talk about when you talk about being successful in a season. Sweet sixteens are hard to reach for most programs outside of most blue bloods. Regardless you can’t go backwards your second season.
The Sweet 16 should be the at absolute bottom for UK as far as being a measuring stick. I agree with you.
I would say clean house with whatever players are cancers and fight through the rest of the season or quit. Either way the boosters are gonna crap.

If you google mark pope accomplishments, they are his top 2. Looked like a great candidate to me.

I don’t buy it. He made some eye popping adjustments last year and this year he doesnt even try. Something bad is going on behind the scenes.

I will believe it when I see it. I wanna watch the press conference. The hard questions need to be asked.
He did iterate, over and over during the introduction, that "we understand the assignment". I think he understands the game and character, but I think he vastly (which is shocking to me) misunderstands the fans and the expectations at a program like UK. You have to orchestrate and coach to those expectations. I think when you get to his level, riches and all, the concerns of the lowly fan tend to be glossed over even unintentionally.
Now you KNOW that isn't ever going to happen. No press member, depending on a paycheck, is going to upset a coach or player and risk getting blacklisted.
There’s nothing for him to figure out. He has constructed a terrible roster and he hasn’t proven himself as even a mediocre coach.
People please remember that we we after some big time transfers. Pope missed on every single one of them. We are stuck with second and third level transfers. The leftovers. Pope.can.not.recruit. And if he can he cant evaluate talent. Either way we are cooked next year unless Mitch brings in a proven big time name.

I think that when you're running out of time (because you missed out on recruits) and have to go digging through the portal, there really isn't a lot of time to "evaluate". Probably spent more time YT'ing "[insert player name] game highlights", lol.
