You just don't say that kind of stuff.....nothing to do with being offended

I guarantee he will phrase his confidence different next time. We weren't going to beat them no matter what he said, but common sense says you don't approach it that way.

Re: People are being awful tough on an 18 year old kid he isn't getting paid

Your kids are getting paid too. It is called a SCHOLARSHIP!
When you have the top facilities, most wins ever, tremendous fan support, great coach... Kentucky doesn't need to pay players as you so ridiculously charge. We have good kids that play very hard for their school, coach and teammates.

Also, the entire "D league/basketball factory" stuff that many accuse Cal/UK of being is sour grapes. We recruit the same kids as every other top 20 school. Because of the points I made above, we are just getting MORE of them than others.

Tough loss for you guys last night but the Cats were razor sharp.

the by far better team won last night

The Kentucky NBA team is so good that even Calipari could beat Huggins with them. That reduces Huggins to 8-3 vs. Calipari.

Kentucky shot the eyes out of the basket, shrugged off the WVU press that terrorized dozens of teams this season. My cap's off to them.

I'm still proud of the very, very young Mountaineers for a 25-victory season. That ain't chopped liver. And it's not like anyone has beaten Kentucky this season.

It was a massacre, but I'm still proud of this team for this season.

We were beat by our lack of ability to shoot and their great job keeping us off the offensive boards and their LONG defense.
They are a really good team. Our press and physical defense were our only chance.

Paperboy comes out from under his rock to insult people from WV over a basketball game. What a retard.

I'm fine with the, "They are going to walk out of here 36-1" talk... the part I thought was dumb and immature was when he spoke about them not playing hard. There is not a place for that talk before or after a game.

OK. Read that article very carefully. Read what the Ky players say. Their comments do not match up with the headline.

The KY players kept saying "they." They did not say, "he." They were not talking about Miles alone. They were talking about the several players who ran their mouths earlier in the week. By the time Miles made his comment the die was already cast.

http://wvmetronews.com/2015/03/24/mountaineers-not-satisfied-or-scared-as-they-aim-to-prove-kentuckys-vulnerable/

You are foolish if you think those comments did not make their way to KU's players. And you are foolish if you think those comments did not create a determination on KU's part to come out and humiliate our players.

Tarheel summed it up perfectly.

We were beat because they're a really good team.

We were beat down[/B] because players ran their mouths.

I expect to win - is what he should be thinking and saying. And that is exactly what he said.

Absolutely correct.

And if he'd used those words, there wouldn't have been a ripple, let alone the reaction of both UK and WVU fans.

True.

However, trash talk before the game basically gives permission (incentive really) for the winning team and their fans to talk trash after the game.

---------------

All I see on this forum is crying about how the Kentucky team is a sore winner.....instead of writing that if you don't walk the walk then you have to deal with the talk you talked....

Absolutely right. If it were the thing to do and not the foolish thing that I'm sure Huggs privately thinks, then add up all the college and pro sports and all the matches for one year and how many times do you hear an athlete make a prediction like that? It's BEYOND RARE. It was a stupid thing to do and I'm surprised Huggs' let it happen. He should have read them the riot act from the beginning of the tourney. If he did then I guess some didn't listen because from what I understand it went beyond one guy's comments as it's been said. And look what happened. That loss was beyond humiliating and anyone denies it was no big deal is living in denial in the face of a strong force of popular opinion.

.......so Pappy, you say, "I'm sure Huggs privately thinks"........ please explain to us just how you would have any idea and your certainty of what Coach Huggins "privately thinks".

I don't have to provide proof just because of an opinion. I don't understand why so many take such an issue over opinions given, which is what this board is for. You do it all the time. Besides, how many times have you heard Huggs in his entire career make a statement like Miles did? There's a reason why coaches never talk like that and why a ridiculously low number of athletes don't as well. It just shows your agenda (acting like a prick instead of a real discussion) to pick a bone over a statement like that when you know darn well logic is on my side.

O.K. Got it, Pappy........ you've got no F'N idea what Coach Huggins "privately thinks".

And I have no issue what-so-ever with your opinions one-way or the other, but when you make a statement to support your opinion with a claim, such as certainty about what someone else thinks, to support your opinion, yep, you can be certain that a guy, or in your words a "prick" like me, will challenge it.

Hopefully, using your 'logic', it will allow you to now understand.......

And you still never addressed the logic angle to my argument and the question as to when have you ever heard him make a statement like that? Why in the world would he enjoy that kind of comment BEFORE the game is played? The thing is, it's not so much the effect it has on the team one is talking about, I think it has more of an effect on not only the person saying things like that but his team as well. Wasn't KY mentioning WVU's team, or at least others trash talking before the game? Why would they do that to a team that is unbeaten and such a crucial point in the season? You can argue with me all you want but my opinion is based on history and I'd be willing to bet that Huggs wasn't very fond of him saying that. But then again, if others on the team were talking like that it means he wasn't paying much attention. He should have. There was no excuse to get beat that bad. The loss itself isn't the issue.

Huggins says didn't buy into the storyline of Miles provoking the Wildcats.

"You know what, honestly, I think that's a bunch of BS," he said. "I think once you throw the ball up, you play. It was a freshman that said it and I'm kind of happy he had some confidence. I'm kind of happy he wasn't hiding under a chair somewhere, you know? There's nothing wrong with having some confidence and wanting to go out and compete. They just were way better than we were." ~ Bob Huggins

Paper, You are an IDIOT

Nobody is offended by Dax. It is easy to question the wisdom of making that comment. That does NOT mean one is offended. Dax is a true blue Mountaineer, and we have his back. I don't know what you besides an idiot troll. Go back under your rock.

Most likely due to the biggest beat down in sweet sixteen history. Maybe a new video will help. Your fans can all hide in bathroom stalls when you get neat Ky fans. 36-won.
