This is all playing into the MAGICAL story of Zion Williamson!!!

I didn’t think I would be this beat down this year. I’m frustrated, concerned, taken back and questioning what went wrong.....

But deep down I realize.... this is all part of the script!!!

Zion watches from a far, helpless for now, with a grin that makes me sleep well at night. Sleep well Duke nation- things will be right SOON!

Around 25-30 pts, an intimdating force in the paint, around 15 rebounds and around 2-3 blocks was on the bench tonight with an injury.

As JC says, 'Everything is going to be okay".
This was going to be a tough game no matter what, and with Zion out, RJ sick, and Jack still in his 0 for ever slump from 3...well, we still had a chance to win after tying it with a minute and a half or so left. VT shoots too well from 3 to gamble and leave them open for 3's.

Very true! Just shows how good we really are. Played with bit of foul trouble also and still lost by 5. I haven’t lost any confidence in our team one bit, especially knowing that Zion will be back!

I haven't either, DukesRules. I'm disappointed for sure because I always want to win, but our guys played hard and had a chance. Also remember, this was our first loss of a true road game, and our only loss on the road in the ACC.

Our guys finished with a 4-2 record in the toughest 6 game regular season stretch any team faced this season. I’ll take that record.

Very true OAD! I never really lose confidence in our guys. It was just simply one of those nights. When you play a 31 game season and in the toughest conference in the country(in my opinion), there will be off nights. Thats just the way it is.

I’m not worried one bit about this team. If Zion 100% wasn’t coming back then I would be worried. We don’t have an identity without Zion yet. We KNOW Zion will be back and we KNOW the team we are with him on the floor. Not panicked at all

But we have two other top 5 players (supposedly) how HOW do we lose to VT?? Zion or not today was bad really really bad

The concern to me is the defense the last 3 weeks. Not sure if it is an effort thing or a coaching thing. But it is back to looking like it has the last 10 years and not like it has 75% of this season.

Tonight's lose: The streak without an ACC regular season Crown extends?

Gonna be mighty humbling if we look back at all the talent that walked thru Cameron the past 2 seasons and no ACC titles at all to show for it....

Oh I know it it doesn’t make any sense at all. Talented piece by not talented team I guess. And this year should have been different

We don’t have the luxury of multi year guys like the uvas of the world. Even Roy convinces his 5*s to stay.

This loss is frustrating as hell, and Coach K made a humongous mistake not playing Alex more. He more than earned against Cuse, and we simply need the offense. As of now we have to go unbeaten through ACC tourney to have any hope of a 1 seed. I simply am at a loss for words, VT was without their best player, and they are not deep at all, no way should we have lost this game. I believe we can still get it back together and maybe revert back to the nigh unstoppable force they were early on but, with 2 losses in 3 games and now out of the ACC title race, we've put ourselves way behind they eight-ball.

Spent my evening at the children’s museum chasing a 4 year old. Had the game streaming on my phone but I didn’t get to REALLY watch it. So, I have no analytical input other than I’m infuriated AOC only got 2 shots the whole game. Not sure what the narrative behind that is and I don’t care either — That’s inexcusable.

For the love of God someone please install some good old fashioned orange juice into everyone’s breakfast. Tired of seeing that someone is battling the flu. Not questioning the credibility but Jesus Christ he (RJ) just had the flu a week and a half ago.

I don't remember RJ being sick. Cam missed the first Syracuse game with an illness though.

I agree.
The rub is basically the only team that has beaten us at full strength is a good Gonzaga team, and that was only by 2 points.
Syracuse beat us without Tre and Cam.
Carolina and Tech beat us without Zion, and last night they said RJ was sick.
We will be back at full strength, and we will be the best team in the land.
WE GOT THIS!

The problem to me is not the defense but rather the offense. If you go back and watch games from November you will see a vastly different approach than what is being done now. Everything we get is from 1 on 1 or ball screen action. There is zero movement or sets being run to get a good look.

I sure hope you’re right. An argument can be made that Duke has regressed since the Kentucky game....despite winning with illness and injuries.

We have a top 5 defense and I’m hearing complaints about defense. Wow hahaha. If we had Zion then everyone has a legitimate case. But we don’t have him. Against Carolina we had Jack White and RJ guarding Luke Maye. Mostly RJ and we know RJ isn’t strong enough for that. Last night was a bad matchup because they spread bolden out and Javin wasn’t strong enough. Those styles beat us. With Zion he’s big, strong and fast defensively. Offensively Tech wouldn’t have had anyone to guard him. They couldn’t put Blackshear on him because he would’ve gotten in foul trouble. They would’ve had to put Outlaw on him. I rest my case. Y’all are complaining like this is our final roster for the rest of the season.

We run an NBA system. NBA is mostly one on one unless you're the Warriors. We want to spread people out and attack the basket. Only thing is we aren’t a good perimeter shooting team. We shoot it well when we need to but we aren’t consistent with it. We ran more pick and roll last night because we don’t have that monster in the middle who we can dump it down to. He will either get a shot up or make the right pass to an open player
