After you eliminate KU. It would line up like this. UK, Villanova, Duke, Wisconsin. Based on geography they will be seeded like this.

UK Midwest play first 2 rds in Louisville
Villanova East first 2 in Pitt
Duke south first two in Charlotte
Wisconsin, closest of 1s to LA and play first two in Louisville

2 seeds
Kansas in Midwest first two games in Omaha
Virginia 2 seed in the east plays first two in Charlotte
Arizona in west plays first two in Portland
Gonzaga in the south first two games in Seattle

This makes sense given Wisconsin takes care of business today. It satisfies the geography emphasis the committee may put out there and stays in line with RPI which is a primary indicator for the committee. The issue I think fans are overlooking is geography in the first two rounds trumps the regional final. When you have a Gonzaga and rds 2 and 3 in Seattle it makes sense to place them there. Even though the west regional is played in LA the first two rds are in Louisville for the top seed makes sense for Wisconsin. KU in Omaha makes sense, Virginia in Charlotte makes sense as a matter of fact this is perhaps the only way to make it happen geographically for the first two rounds.

Clearly geography is most important in the first 2 games, and has been since the advent of the pod system. But for the past few seasons, geography for Regionals has been deemed just as important by the committee.

It's a given that top teams will be placed in pods close to home.

If you switched UW and Duke it would be even better, IMHO. I think UW is a better team and if they win their tournament, they should be the third 1 seed. A regular season and tournament title in a power conference should move UW up.
