John Feinstein also ranked Hofstra 25th in the country the past two weeks. Of course, he was the only one to rank them.

I'm shocked only two did to be honest.

Well one is a well known UK hater, and the other probably does not care for UK due to the school he covers.

The three chumps who kept voting for Wisconsin for #1 at the beginning of the season were saying that they couldn't vote anyone else until Wisconsin lost. Guess with UK, it's ok to vote over them even though they haven't lost.

That is idiotic voting logic to begin with. If you think one team is better than another, it shouldn't matter if a team has lost or not. One team can look better in a loss than another can in a win, just because the one team lost doesn't automatically make them a worse team.

This. We get no trophies for being a unanimous #1 until after we play the final game in April.

Probably just giving props to Virginia for a pretty impressive start to their season. Won at Notre Dame, VCU, and Maryland. Not too shabby.

I don't have a problem with it, I almost invite it. Hopefully this perceived slight will put the chip back on our guy's shoulders. Two lost votes in January could do more good than it could ever do harm.

Yep. Hopefully this gives Kentucky that much-needed chip.

I think the two-horse race we were in with Carolina for much of '12 was needed for that team. The more people you have out there digging at Kentucky, the more ammunition Cal has in the locker room.

He tried to vote for Army because Coach K went there, and also Navy. Remember he wrote book about Navy and Army.
Tried to vote Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern in top 25. Surprised he didn't vote Mike Brey and ND number 1 due to his time at Duke.

I'm surprised that Feinstein has the time to vote in a basketball poll. What with him being so consumed with what's happening in Gaza and all.

As for Feinstein go back and look at the votes.. When Kentucky was destroying everyone he had Duke at one. So his article does not add up,

I don't think there should be human voting at all. Really the only purpose in rankings are hyping games for TV. Just use the computer models. BPI, KenPom, Sagarin.

A team can look terrible in a win and good in a loss. Kentucky looked dreadful in both their wins this weak. I think the cushion of their previous performances is sufficient to maintain the number 1 ranking, but thinking Virginia is better right now is reasonable.

The lose-move-down and win-stay method of the human polls is why they're inferior to computer ratings and to their own preseason polls at predicting future results. Ideally, voters would use their own method of assessment instead of succumbing to group think. Human polls would be much more interesting and accurate that way.

well, that and it's easier to find the score of a game because ranked teams are listed first
