I like this viewpoint. I would look for him to bring in someone kind of like GJ when he came from Texas. A medium thrower with the ability to extend plays and pick up yards. I can guarantee you that we're not going to win football games with a statue in the pocket, at least not when we're trying to retool the entire offense.
So watching the Notre Dame and Pedo State game last night, I noticed 2 things. Riley Leonard's game is remarkably similar to GJs. Graham didn't use GJ the same way on the designed QB runs and stuff but I would imagine Monty & now Lamb would.
Second observation....that's what two well coached teams look like. Disciplined, talented, kids giving their all, good play calling on both sides (offense & defense). Overall, it was one of the better played college football games I've watched this season. And there were moments and opportunities for players to lose their cool and they all kept their heads and avoided the dumba$$ penalties. Relatively few penalties in the game (although there probably could have been a few more flags for holding).
My hope is Lamb and his staff are ready to instill that type of discipline in their teams here and not put up with any of the dumbass cowboy TE penalties that cost us 100s of yards in key game moments over the years. Eliminating that BS will instantly make us better.
