There's a fine line between winning the sec east and toilet bowl

I think that is the crux of the frustration today. If we lose last night knowing there is no shot at the east most would be happy with toilet bowl. Instead we were in position to potentially win the east for the first time ever and blew it against a team we shoulda beat. At this point we need to be happy to beat AP and go to toilet bowl. We have some fans with high expectations yet our AD and program don't push to those standards. We have to accept this and be happy with a bowl here and there. Thats all that is expected from our AD. It's a damned shame but UK football does not want to be great or else it would be. And don't give me the Bs of a basketball school bc Duke, Carolina have been better than us recently. And don't throw the can't recruit to KY bc look at UL. It can be done but won't until our AD and coaches elevate expectations and get in line with half the fan base that is already there.

In your opinion, what should be done to make UK great?
Hire petrino!! Or leach!! Or anyone who was available. I want someone else. Blah blah blah

You asked for it. But in honestly a stoops supporter and have been since he arrived. Just giving you the only answer on this board

And by the way the leach one dumbfoundes me. Because a poster talked to him at a book signing when he was unemployed and said he wanted to come here. That everyone thinks we had a chance for him. Unless we changed the year before (could you imagine the uproar with racial tension should joker been fired after year two and his first losing regular season at 5-7) leach wasn't available. If he would of left Washington state after one year, what makes everyone think he would stay here? He honestly was not even an available option. But you see a post every week how good he is doing.

Look at my post history. I'm as all aboard the stoops train as anyone and have been. I get so tired of those pertrino and leach posters m. Thought if I could get a smart remark in might deter them from an actual thread. Stoops has done a great job here developing this roster.

They should make him the AD AND football coach, probably should delay him taking over basketball-------unless Cal doesn't win a NC this year.

But yet you poke the bear in hopes that it will most likely contribute to a thread about Leach and Petrino. So obvious.

Stoops inherited a mess, likely worse than Papa Brooks. Petrino at UL came in at pretty good times to keep a program rolling along.

Stoops has built it slowly, but in a remarkably linear, straight line fashion, even if 6-6 is all we get this year.

Could a "system" coach have gotten a couple of more the last 3 years? Maybe. And when his "system" got figured out, the SEC would have smashed it with actual football plays.

So why has Stoops had success? Building a line is a big start, and it will continue next year.

Some of you guys are ridiculous. We played well against a team that has as much or more talent than we do. A couple of bone head/bad breaks cost us the game. Some of you are acting like we played poorly. WE DID NOT! And wasn't UGA favored?

So much stupid here. Brooks inherited probation with scholarship limitations and played against a much tougher schedule. He also wasn't given the upgrades to sell on the recruiting trail. You guys really oversell the "mess" Stoops inherited. He was given a full compliment of scholarships, an apathetic fan base and the promise of upgrades.

I don't understand all the love for Leach. He is a good offensive mind, but he doesn't really concern himself with defense much and against athletic teams his offense just doesn't get it done. Saban's first year at Bama, they played in in a bowl and TT was averaging about 45 a game, Bama was 6-6. Bama beat them and I don't think TT got to the endzone. His qbs are running threats and for the spread to be all it can be the qb has to be a running threat, I can certainly be wrong, But I dont' think he could recruit enough to get UK to where Stoops has gotten them. Petrino is a different story, he has shown he is able to adapt to what his qb does best, and while Jackson isn't a top passer, Petrino has gotten him to the point of being at least serviceable and probably a good bit better than that.

Ive been as critical of Stoops as anyone on here but after Georgia I did exactly what OP talked about and said we're going bowling and Im happy about it.

In Year 2 we were a botched catch v UofL and a b.s. no call playclock violation v UF from being 7-5.

In Year 3 we had Vandy at 1st and goal to go bowling...up on UofL 21-0 to start...etc.

The bottom line is we've come up short and ita frustrated everyone but we got there quickly. If we stay the course and keep knocking we're going to kick that door down.
