Yeah, the reviews suggest seeing on the big screen and in 3D if possible.

Rotten Tomatoes has a 98% approval; not sure if anything else has ever been that high.

Yeah I really want to see that! I'm a history teacher and love all that stuff anyway but WW1 is just so fascinating on several levels.

If you go make sure and stay for the after credits interview with Peter Jackson, it's just as interesting as the feature.

This.

Movie was fantastic, but the after-movie interview about how Jackson made the film is first-rate.

Oh wow, hell yes I'll go see this.

I'm currently re-reading All Quiet on the Western Front, so this is going to be a must see.

Next time anyone is at the National Mall in DC look at the WWI memorial. Its pathetic and forgotten compared to the WWII memorial.

There is a small WWI memorial that is the DC WWI memorial. There are plans to build a national WWI memorial (behind schedule). I hope they do a better job designing it than the MLK Jr. memorial.

Great uncle lost his life there due to the Flu Pandemic - killed more Americans than the battles did. Name is on UK Memorial (WWI) Hall wall inside.

Been watching it off and on for the past two days. When they switch from talking about drilling to actual combat and the footage goes from black and white to color... :flushed:

Just saw it, even by the standards of war, which has always been pure misery, WWI was just off the charts, had to sit in a stew of mud, rats, lice, dead bodies for weeks at a time, plus constant shell fire

Jackson deserves the AA for documentaries, the work that went into this movie is really incredible, his explanations of how and why they did what they did to the old film was fascinating

Saw it today also in Newport thanks to this thread. Sorry, it didn't do much for me. It showed Brit guys signing up for war & training, Brits being in the hell hole trenches, & the war ending after one battle by Brits. No context. WTF? I mean it didn't add much I didn't already know. Oh well. I've spent worse time in a theater.

I thought is was awesome. I’ve listened to Dan Carlin’s ~20hr podcast series, “Blueprint for Armegeddon” to bring myself up to speed and loved it. I probably enjoyed the technical and artistic labor of the filmmaking (and mini-doc explaining it after the credits) more so than the content.

I saw it in 3D in Wilder... wow.

I almost wish the post movie commentary was played first, great into how it was made.
